Just for fun

Journaling:
In the last couple of years I have discovered and developed three passions (scrapbooking, photography and hybrid crafts) and I feel like I will never let go of them as long as I live. Having a creative outlet is now more vital to me than the air I breathe, at times, because it makes me feel free and it reminds me of the life I want to live and of the beauty and grace I am blessed with every day.

End of Summer

It feels like the summer is over here. Not because of the weather (we’re in the 90s. Again! I can’t wait for the summer to be really over!), but because my birthday has passed and my boss is coming back from her summer travels, so life will be as hectic as ever.

I had a very nice birthday weekend: DH baked me a lovely cake and forbid me from being in the kitchen while he worked, so I ended up scrapping 3 LOs on my birthday. Not a bad way to celebrate! 🙂 I have 2 non-CT LOs to share. The first is done with a very pretty kit by Zoe Pearn and is yet another page from my mom’s trip:

I love this pic of my mom and me!!
And the second is done using some adorable products by Molly DeCrow:

I went shopping at Anthropologie with my birthday coupon last week, and I had to pick up this pretty headband. I haven’t worn a headband since I was 13 maybe, but this one was just irresistible. 🙂 I also bought some sweet flower shaped kitchen measurers and two wool cardigans, one for me and one for my mom, to wear at Christmas. 🙂 As usual, finding Christmas gifts for my mom is always the easiest task. 😉

A RAK!

I was RAKed by Joyce Paul with her gorgeous collab Mumbay Lullaby with Polly & Rufus and I loved scrapping with it!

And of course, while last Friday we had about 82 degrees, tomorrow the high temperature is expected to be 41. This is crazy!!

It’s Here!

This is what we woke up to yesterday morning:

It’s long gone now, but it’ll be back soon. I love the white stuff! It took a longer than usual this year for it to make its appearance!

November

November is here already, and Christmas is getting closer and closer! 🙂
I have two non CT pages to share; the first is from a couple of weeks ago, for a challenge at the LilyPad:

I really love these brushes!
This one I did for a challenge at the DigiChick this weekend:

And I’m happy to say this LO was worth a LOTW (Layour of the Week) at the DigiChick! 😉

Crunching Leaves

I did this page a couple of days ago, and I really loved how it turned out. I think the punched out leaves look great! 😉

My hybrid project is coming along: between last night and this morning I finished the digital part. Now I need to buy some supplies, print everything out and assemble.

Bunnies!

I really love bunnies and I had lots of fun scrapping this page:

This is the first page I do repeating the whole cluster over and over.. it’s a trend I’ve been seeing for some time in the galleries and wanted to try it myself. I quite like it for this page!

Heron

We’ve been living in this house for a year and a half but we keep seeing new animals. 🙂
Even though we’d spotted them before, this month was the first time we were able to take pictures of foxes.
And recently we’ve seen herons too. I took a gorgeous picture of a fox and a heron (must scrap that soon!) and here’s some closeups of just the heron. It’s really a big bird! 🙂

Weeds and Wildflowers has a new reward system: you get a point for each challenge you take part in, and 10 points are worth a $10 GC!
This is my first LO with the new system, it was a template challenge:

The Final Round

The final week of the CT contest at ScrapOrchard has arrived and I must say I’m glad it’s over. It was tiring and nerve wracking, especially because I had to work on the assignments during the week, and with work and DH I was always worried I might not have time to do my best. Anyway, I posted my last page yesterday morning, and now I only have to wait until next Monday, when they announce the winners.

I don’t love this page as much as the others I did for the contest.. I spent more time on it than I did on the others, too! 🙂 I think because for the other weeks I had to stretch my creativity more, because I had to use kits I don’t usually scrap with, so I ended up with pages that were totally me but not my usual pages at the same time.
The gallery is bursting with talent so I don’t think I’ll make it, but I had a blast throughout the contest and I got to try out my style with fantasy kits too.
