Great News (Autocelebratory Post)

| cristina

I passed the Preliminary Exam and I’m now officially a 2nd year student.

And it feels good!!
OK, I can admit it now. I never thought I could not pass it, but it’s a big relief to actually get the results and know it.
Especially, it feels good to read: “Further congratulations are due, because you received a high grade on the exam”. 😀
Yaaaaay for me!!

Wordart, Bad News and Indiana Jones

| cristina

I was reading a few blogs this morning and on Misty Cato’s blog (great for tutorials too, you can find in in my favorite blogs’ list on the right) I found out about this funny website, Wordle, that creates a word composition with the words you input. I inserted my blog and here’s what came out.

And now the bad news: they didn’t take me for ScrapMatters’ CT call.. I was quite disappointed because although when I applied I realistically knew they would have a lot more talented scrappers to choose among, since it took so long to get the answer (9 looong days) my hopes inevitably went up.
Anyway, they have a brand new CT there (although I’m thrilled to see some names of the previous CT still there!) and I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

We went to see the latest Indiana Jones yesterday night. I thought it was fun; my husband said it made too much fun of itself.. Anyway, I’m happy they did it.

Another Zoo LO

| cristina

I did another zoo LO.

This is about a super fun show we watched there called Tales of Tails. The pictures we took were really bad, but I wanted to scrap about this because it’s such a nice memory.
So I tweaked them a little bit and here we go:

Happy 2B {stuck with you} collab kit by Krystal Hartley and Marcie Reckinger

I just love this kit (it’s the same I used for The Rhinos, another zoo LO I did previously, and I wanted to reuse it).
I did this LO for the Tuesday Template challenge at ScrapMatters.

A Challenge (At Last!)

| cristina

After too much time I finally scrapped a LO for a challenge.

I’m not 100% happy with this LO; it might be because I started it on my husband’s notebook with very limited scrapping supplies.. Anyway, I couldn’t get anywhere with it so I finished it as it was.
I’m not 100% happy with it because although I love the title idea, I’m not really happy with how it turned out.
Anyway, still not a LO I should throw away, IMHO. The picture was really poor quality and I like how it turned out after I tweaked it a bit.
I did this following ScrapMatter’s 8/30 Saturday Special challenge hosted by Lina with these rules:

  1. only one photo,
  2. something bling (a jewel, glitter, etc),
  3. no less than 3 papers,
  4. a binder (clip, stapes, etc)
  5. at least 3 flowers and
  6. you must use an alpha!

and here’s the LO:

Outrageous (I Talked Too Soon)

| cristina

We’re about to go back to the Apple Store because we found out that they did indeed replace the malfuncioning VRAM, but instead of replacing the 256 MB we had, they put in 128.

Wasn’t that smart?
We really feel we’re a bit unlucky.

It’s Back!!!!

| cristina

My Mac is Back!!!!!!

Yaaaaaay!!!
I had almost given up hope, since we were waiting on a part and I figured, with the long weekend, it would never come in. But it did and it’s working and I can catch up with all the things I missed this week. 🙂
Too bad I have to go back to work tomorrow! 😀

Almost Over

| cristina

My holiday is almost over, and after Labor Day my schedule is pretty busy.

I’m not really that eager to go back to work, but I’m not dreading it either, so the holiday did me some good. 🙂
My Mac is still at the Apple Store and I’m still very unhappy about it, but resigned.
At last, Indiana Jones has arrived at our discount theater, so on Tuesday we’ll go and watch it for $ 1! I’ve been waiting for it to arrive all summer! 🙂

Happy Birthday to Me!

| cristina

Today’s my birthday!!

And husband’s cooking me a nice meal tonight. 🙂
I was hoping to get a phone call from the Apple Store saying my computer was repaired and ready to come home, but no.. not even as a gift for my birthday!
I’m really feeling hopeless now. I’ve been waiting on 3 important things this week (computer repair, exam results and ScrapMatters CT call) and heard nothing from either! I’ve been trying to be really calm and patient, but after 4 days of useless waiting I feel I’m getting a bit nervous now.
But never mind, it’s my birthday today and I want only positive thoughts!
And tomorrow we’re spending the day at a museum so I won’t have a chance to think about the answers I’m waiting for.

Operation Spruce

| cristina

After spending yesterday at Letchworth State Park (loved it!!) today we went and bought a baby blue spruce to plant in our garden.

I’ve wanted this for a couple months now, and we finally went to get it today.
We chose the smallest (and cutest of course) of all the ones for sale
and as soon as we got home, we were very, very glad we did that!! In fact, the people at the nursery put the spruce in our car, but once we got home, we discovered it was awfully heavy!! In fact, my husband and I together could not lift it, and resorted to roll it over the grass to the designated spot.
After digging for almost 2 hours, with me getting really dizzy because of the sun, we finally managed it and achieved this:
We’re SO happy with the result!! It was a harder job than we expected, but totally worth it!
Now we’re almost ready for Christmas! 🙂
(In case you were wondering… The 3rd day is now over and my Mac is not ready yet.. And it should have taken “a couple days”…)

Science Center

| cristina

Today we went to the Science Center + Planetarium. It was fun!!

We spent about 6 hours there, doing all the activities.
I didn’t take many pictures, but I think a LO or two could come out of this. 🙂
There’s a Speed Scrap at Scrapmatters tomorrow evening (find info here) but I’ll miss it because it’s at dinner time for me and tomorrow is our monthiversary (plus, my Mac is still being repaired.. ugh!). Too bad, because I love speed scraps!! There’s also an awesome partecipation prize by Ellie Lash.
