July BYOC

It’s BYOC* time at The Lilypad! Such a fun and versatile color palette this month!

Here’s what I scrapped with it:

I had a bit of a hard time coming up with a good background for this next page. I tried light papers first, but then I settled on this paper by Valorie Wibbens (I recolored it), and I love the result! I lowered the opacity on the dot papers by One Little Bird so they look like vellum.

I also made a hybrid card using Sahlin Studio products. I love the aqua, pink and yellow combination.

I added some Glossy Accents on the yellow heart to add a bit of texture.

And that’s all I have for this BYOC at the moment. Happy 4th of July, and happy BYOC to all of you! ๐Ÿ™‚

Anniversary Celebrations

I have some catching up to do! Our anniversary was a couples of weeks ago, and I scrapped, and I made a mini album! ๐Ÿ™‚ All with Sahlin Studio products. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This mini album was totally inspired by the Project Mouse journal date cards. I love how it turned out!

It was so easy and fun to put together (except when I printed on the wrong side of my matte paper.. LOL!). ๐Ÿ˜‰

Are you ready for the week to be over? I sure am, plus Friday is BYOC time at The Lilypad! I love all the gorgeous new products – only a short wait now to see what’s coming! ๐Ÿ™‚

May BYOC + iNSD at The Lilypad!

Happy Birthday The Lilypad!

It’s The Lilypad’s 6th birthday, and celebrations are in full swing!

There’s a 30% store wide sale, and games galore in the forum, including my personal favorite – kiss the frog! ๐Ÿ™‚

And to top if off, Sahlin Studio has a fabulous birthday collection new in the store today!

I used it to make a page for my 2012 Project Life album (one of the many weeks I haven’t quite gotten to yet.. ;)), for the week of my husband’s birthday back in November.

I made backgrounds from the gorgeous papers, and used the vintage cutouts and cards, borders and snipettes to embellish my page. All that was left to do was journal, and add some sewing. ๐Ÿ™‚ Here are some details. ๐Ÿ™‚

There’s a story behind the “cake #3” (and “cake #4” in another card below): this year DH actually got 4 birthday cakes with candles! Two were at a restaurant, one with friends, and the last at home. ๐Ÿ™‚

I used the photo collages by Designs by Lili to fit all my restaurant photos in this pocket, an I added some journaling on a strip cut out of the papers.

Those vintage cards are so much fun! And this blue “happy birthday to you” is my favorite paper in the set, tied with the one I used in the title card. ๐Ÿ™‚

This doggie was so cute, I thought it deserved its own pocket. ๐Ÿ™‚ I used my Silhouette to cut it out, as well as the Happy Birthday sign below. I sized the sign to be slightly bigger than the pocket because I wanted it to stand out, and I attached it with glue dots to the front of the page protector.

Yup, cake #4. ๐Ÿ™‚

This one shown here looks like a paper, but it isn’t – I just repeated a few times one of the borders, slightly shifted, and printed them out, because I loved the look! The presents were also cut out with theย Silhouette.

Well, I hope you will take part in the celebrations at The Lilypad over the weekend!

December Daily – Days 15-23

I am almost done catching up with my December Daily album – and it feels good! We were gone Dec. 26-30, but as soon as I got back home I got working on it. I just have 2 days to go before the album is done. December Daily is for sure my favorite project to work on. ๐Ÿ™‚

DD 2012 - Days 16-19

This is probably my favorite spread in the album! The word art card is by Little Butterfly Wings.

DD 2012 - Days 16-19

The alpha stickers and the paper are by Basic Grey. The stamp is a digital element I had cut out with my Silhouette in 2010 for my DD album, but never used. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m loving the number stamp for the date.

DD 2012 - Days 16-19

The letter stickers are from Dear Lizzy. The number stamp is by Kelly Purkey. I covered the Studio Calico wood veneer arrow with Stickles. The green paper is a leftover from a previous page – I stamped the Studio Calico stamp and embossed in gold glitter zing, and then I sprayed Estate Green Mister Huey on top. And here comes my favorite thing in the album…

DD 2012 - Days 16-19

This is my first see through pocket ever, and I love it!! I did some sewing to create compartments, and put in sequins, chunky glitter, punched shapes (snowflakes and stars), wood veneer and micro beads to decorate. I stamped on the back of a digital element (more below) and I love how it turned out! Stamps by Martha Stewart and Kelly Purkey.

DD 2012 - Days 20-21

I really like this spread too. ๐Ÿ™‚

DD 2012 - Days 20-21

Here’s the back of the pocket! Not sure which side I like more – I love them both! ๐Ÿ˜‰ The word art is by Little Butterfly Wings. The star card is by Paislee Press.

DD 2012 - Days 20-21

The reindeer card  is by Paislee Press, and I added a red sequin for the nose. ๐Ÿ™‚

DD 2012 - Days 21-22

The polka red dot wrap was from the chocolate basket pictured above – I love that you can see it peeking from the pocket in the previous page too!

DD 2012 - Day 23

The reindeer paper is from Kitschy Christmas by Jenn Barrette and Sahlin Studio, and I also used the Christmas Journal Cards and Ephemera: Trimming the Tree by Sahlin Studio.

December Daily 2012 – It Has Begun!

I am so excited to be working on one of my favorite projects: December Daily. Put together two things I love – Christmas and crafting – and I’m in heaven! Dec. Daily is a concept started by Ali Edwards to document the Christmas season day per day. I completed a mini album both in 2010 and 2011, and I’m at it again this year. ๐Ÿ™‚

For my first page of the 2012 December Daily, I used a paper by Sahlin Studio, in the gorgeous December BYOC at The Lilypad (25% off through the weekend!):

This is the first page you see when you open my album:

DD 2012 - title

The picture at the bottom was taken on Dec. 1st, and it’s the only snow we’ve seen so far, but I hope we’ll have a white Christmas this year, so I thought it was perfect to put it at the front of my album. ๐Ÿ™‚

Come back tomorrow to see the rest of my Day 1! I’m so excited about how it turned out!

Document Your December and Black Friday at The Lilypad

Yesterday was Black Friday in the U.S., the day for crazy sales and holiday shopping. Last year (for the first time) we braved the crowds and went shopping at ~6am, but this year I decided not to. We’re too busy, and didn’t really have much to buy. Instead, I did some very rewarding online shopping, followed by a quick dash to the mall at 10 AM – we visited 3 stores and didn’t have to fight the crowds. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But hands down, online shopping rocks. And the sale that is going on at The Lilypad on all Christmas and winter products is perfect to gear up for December Daily!

I successfully completed a December Daily album in the past two years, so I know what works and what doesn’t work for me. This year I decided to combine the December Daily album with Project Life (I wouldn’t have enough material and motivation to keep up with two albums at the same time!), so I’ll be using the Project Life concept (document the little things, use photo pocket pages) but in a mini album format. I am using an 8.5″x5.5″ binder by Martha Stewart from Staples. I chose this size because it’s perfect for hybrid, and I’m all for saving paper when I print. ๐Ÿ™‚ In 2010 I made all my foundation pages of the album ahead of time, because I was traveling in December. In 2011 I didn’t, because I was home and wanted to have the freedom to choose the design based on the photos I had for each day. This year, I will also go with the freedom approach :), but since the holiday products that have already been put in the store are so tempting, I have done a few pockets already. ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s what I used.

Last year I started the tradition of our Elf on the Shelf, and I am excited to bring him out again this year. The tree went up yesterday, so I have a feeling he’ll make an apparition soon. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Here are a few other goodies I’ve used so far.

It’s no mystery that I love deer and reindeer (and glitter too! LOL), so these cards by Paislee Press had to go straight in my album. ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s a peek at the pockets I’ve made so far.

Happy DSD!

It’s DSD at The Lilypad, the November BYOC is in the store, and two of my designers are guest designing there, so I have been busy this week! ๐Ÿ˜‰ First off, here’s what I did with Mari Koegelenberg’s bits,
mixed in with a couple of other BYOC products.
