The Best

The August theme for the monthly gallery at write.click.scrapbook was “the best”. I had just the right pictures for this theme: ice cream in Rome! 🙂

I love how this page turned out! I pulled out some supplies from my stash (mainly the Planetarium kit from Studio Calico from May of last year).
I love these gold chipboard stars by Pink Paislee. I had been hoarding these last few, but I was happy to use them on this page.
And now I’m off to make the most of this Sunday before the work week starts! 🙂

Hello July!

Well, we’re a few days into July already (eeeek!), but I wanted to share the page I made for this month’s gallery at write.click.scrapbook, themed “the great outdoors”.

Summer has never been my favorite season, but as the years go by, I appreciate it more and more. I love how this picture I took captures the feeling of summer for me.

Embossing Love

A couple months ago, I took the plunge and bought a manual die cutting machine. After considering the options (namely the Cuttlebug, which is smaller and less sturdy), I decided to get the Big Shot. My main motivation to buy it was to use it with wafer thin dies, but I also bought an embossing folder, just to try it out… and I have fallen in love with embossing!

I really love the results! Here are a few cards I made for my Project Life album.

Embossing folder: Amy Tangerine

Embossing folder: Tim Holtz

Embossing folder: We R Memory Keepers

Embossing folder: Cuttlebug (left)          Tim Holtz (right)

I have been playing with creating a faux letterpress look. I just used some Hero Arts shadow inks for this card.

This one is probably my favorite plate set! By We R Memory Keepers

Seriously.. embossing, where have you been all my life?? 😉

Mini Album with the Citrus Twist March kit

I’m up on the write.click.scrapbook blog today with a mini album project. For the month of March, the team has received kits from different kit clubs and used them to make a mini album. My turn was with the March kit from Citrus Twist, and let me tell you – I had a blast!! I had never used a kit from Citrus Twist before, and when I opened my box I was amazed by the gorgeous combination of product. The colors were right up my alley, and made working on this project an absolute joy!

The wood veneer and stamp for the kit weren’t available yet when they shipped me the kit, so I got a previous add on stamp and some wood veneer arrows instead. The only thing I haven’t used in my album is the black washi tape. In addition to the album featured on the write.click.scrapbook blog, done exclusively with the Citrus Twist kit (plus doily + tags from my stash), I have added some stamping and a couple embellishments in the final version of my album, shown here.

The kit’s pretty colors and embellishments are especially suited for spring, but I had in mind to scrap a winter vacation we did back in 2005, and I thought the kit worked great for it too!

The album is 6″x6″, and I bound it using my Cinch binding machine. One of my favorite things was coloring the letters for the cover. Rather than using the mistable thickers with mists, I painted them with my watercolors.

As you may know, I love color, so I went with a gradation from pink to blue for my title. 🙂

Now, I will walk you through the pages of the album. There are fourteen double spreads, so sit back and relax. 😉

In most pages I used 4″x6″ photos. I did all the journaling using my typewriter. The stamping (mostly sold out stamps from Studio Calico) was done with Hero Arts shadow inks.

On this spread I used my mists in several way. To recolor the wood dots and wood veneer arrow, to add some droplets, and to mist the cardstock background on the right. I tucked a tag behind the photo with some hidden journaling.
I also cut out some of the hearts from this pretty Dear Lizzy paper to use as embellishments throughout the album.
Mostly, I let the photos take the stage. Bamberg is such a magical town!
This paper was so pretty that I ended up using it on both sides of this spread.
The fun ribbon included in the kit was perfect to add texture to this page! I also used a tag for some hidden journaling.
I love the bold statement of this paper by October Afternoon on the left paired with the Crate Paper one on the right- they matched my photo perfectly!
I love the pop of color on the paper I used to mat this photo. The little vellum stickers words from Studio Calico were perfect to add a little something to my pages.
It has been nine years since we took this trip, and we could only remember a couple of the things we did. So I looked for some facts on the internet about the buildings we visited. I am so happy to have this trip documented now!

I loved both sides of the Studio Calico Lemon Lush paper I used to mat my photo on the right, so I decided to fold the corners to show both sides. 🙂 I love the pop of color!

I made a photo collage on the left using templates by Designs by Lili to feature a collection of neat sightings from around town. On the right page, I cut a few strips from the Lemon Lush paper and sewed them down with gold thread.

I love the chipboard cameras in the Studio Calico Essentials line!

It was funny to see how few picture of us we took on this trip. Well, what can I say? Our picture taking habits have certainly improved since I became a scrapbooker. 🙂

And that’s it! Thirty seven pictures and one epic trip documented.

Thank you so much to Citrus Twist for this opportunity!

Getaway

I am so excited to share this page I made for the ScrapOlympics event over at write.click.scrapbook. I love how it turned out!!

I used a Studio Calico kit from Feb. 2013 that I picked up in clearance back in May and hadn’t used. Here are some details:

I love this color scheme, and it was so easy to put together the page! Have a lovely day, and check out the inspiration at write.click.scrapbook. 🙂

February

I’m really excited to share the page I made for the write.click.scrapbook February gallery. The theme is Technology, and while there are so many ways in which technology has impacted our lives, I chose to scrap about one that was especially significant last month for me. I love how this page turned out!

I bought multiple sheets of that background paper by Studio Calico and had been hoarding it, and it was just perfect for this page! I wish I had a whole world map actually, since not all the places I needed to pinpoint were on this map, but I made do.

Here are some details.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Happy 2014!

Happy new year!! 2013 has been a good year for me. I made a year in review page for the January gallery at write.click.scrapbook and I love how it turned out!

I kept it simple and let the photos speak.

I did some embossing in silver metallic zing to create a visual triangle around my photos.

Grey, red, black, yellow, silver.

Happy new year!

Stretch Your Card Kit!

After all the cardmaking with the Copper Mountain card kits, I was itching to create something else. 🙂 So I made a 12×12 page using some paper scraps from the card kits and some digital files.

I love how this page turned out! Here are some details.

This is a digi printable.

I love this little stamps from the Copper Mountain card kit!

Layering with the pretty star button.

Misting in the background, and another digi printable (the speech bubble).

These gems are so pretty!

Copper Mountain – January kits at Studio Calico

I am the card kit guest designer for January 2014 at Studio Calico, and I went a bit overboard with cardmaking lately! 😉 I made a total of nine cards!

These first few were done with the main card kit only, Copper Mountain card kit. {the link only works for subscribers from noon EST on Dec. 27, and for everyone from midnight}

The kit comes with a die to be used with a manual die cutter. Since I don’t own one, I thought of some other way to use the die, and ended up using it as a stencil for my stitching. 🙂 I love this cute whale!

The colors in this month’s kit are right up my alley!

The patterns in the paper pad are very pretty!

This ribbon in the kit is so much fun! It has thin metal wires inside, so you can shape it up as you wish!

I thought the stamps were so versatile!

I was inspired by these cute candy dots to go with an ombre theme for this card.

And now we get to the card add on kit, Spaulding Bowl. {the link only works for subscribers from noon EST on Dec. 27, and for everyone from midnight}

I went with an elegant design for this card.. I guess the color scheme was inspired by the Christmas festivities! 🙂

I am in love with the skinny handwritten sentiments in the stamp set!!

As soon as I saw the washi and the gems in the add on kit I knew they’d be a perfect match! 🙂

I also used some of the digital files along with my Silhouette.
When I saw the ocean theme for the stamp set I immediately thought I should use this pretty blue POW glitter paper I had in my stash. 🙂

Yeah, I think this is my favorite card out of the nine I made!

I tried using the stamp to make a card with two whales, but it didn’t quite work out.. it turned out much better to use the digital shape and cut out the two whales! 🙂

Confession: this was my first time ever using a rub on! 😉 (the white anchor)

There is an adorable fox stamp in one of the Project Life add ons and I got to play with this cut file and some watercolors. 🙂

And that’s my ninth card! I have by no means exhausted these two kit, just my time! I haven’t even played yet with two of the stamps – the clouds and “showered with love” sentiment in the main kit and the books stamps in the add on.

I hope you enjoyed these cards; I had lots of fun making them and I hope they show how versatile these kits are! 🙂 In fact, I used the card kits to make a 12″x12″ LO last night – I will be sharing it here early next week. 🙂
