Introducing M3 (Mixed Media Monthly) at The Lilypad

Yay, it’s Friday!! 😀 And it’s a very special Friday at The Lilypad, because not only is the shop filled with awesome new releases and the quarterly store-wide 30% sale is going on and there’s a free with purchase kit.. but especially because today is also the kick off of a new exciting monthly subscription called Mixed Media Monthly (M3).

I made 2 digi pages with the August M3 collab and add ons, and 2 hybrid ones. I had so much fun with it!! Are you ready for an overload of color?? 🙂 Let’s start with the digital pages.

I would say that my digital scrapping style leans towards the minimalist side, but I had so much fun adding brushes and embellishments on my page! These colors are right up my alley!

This page was inspired by the gorgeous butterfly in Lynne Marie’s Sketchbook 01 add on, and then I layered brushes and stamps on top of the colorful background to tone it down a bit and add interest. I love how it turned out! OK, let’s move on to the hybrid pages now. These were done with the August M3 collab.

I used the gorgeous cut filed in the M3 collab to cut out a stencil with my Silhouette machine out of transparency paper. It worked beautifully!! Then I painted over the mask using Tim Holtz distress paint (picked raspberry, fired brick and spiced marmalade, top to bottom) and Heidi Swapp mists (gold and citron). Here’s a closer look:

{ENABLER ALERT}  I’ve only had this gold mist by Heidi Swapp for less than a week, but let me tell you… I am in L-O-V-E! It’s the most perfect gold color ever! I bought the Studio Calico gold Mister Huey in the past but it’s not nearly quite as good. The Heidi Swapp one has such perfect coverage, it looks like liquid gold! These pictures don’t even do it justice, but it is so good.

I added some doodling in black pen on the background to tie in with the digital printed out elements (everything printed on Canon matte paper). And yes, that is indeed the same picture I scrapped in the digi LO above. What can I say? Our outfits were just perfect for this M3! 🙂

On to the next page. This one came about because after painting and misting the background for the page above, my stencil was covered in paint and looked very pretty, so rather than just rinse it off I pressed it onto white cardstock to create another background.

I keep going back and forth, but I may love this background even more than the previous one..

I misted the wood veneer using Peach and Primrose Heidi Swapp mists.

I placed the wood veneer in the holes of the mask, and added more splatters of gold mist.

Gold stitching of course.

This is a piece of a gorgeous paper in the M3 collab, printed out on Canon matte paper. I had so much fun getting messy with these hybrid pages!

Finally, I also made a page with some non-M3 new releases.

I love how this page turned out. The design was inspired by the “Change Ahead” element and I went with it!

Hello August

And just like that August has arrived! Rather than go into panic mode that summer is coming to an end, I will focus on the happy things. And the new BYOC (build your own collab) at The Lilypad is definitely something that makes me happy. 🙂

I will start off with this hybrid page I made with designs by Sahlin Studio. This page was so much fun to put together!

I made it to celebrate my love of photography. I just added a kraft background, a red doily and some stamps from my stash. The rest is all printed out on Canon matte photo paper.
I also made three digi pages.

This next page took me 21 minutes (that’s the difference in timestamps between the saved LO above and the one below). I’ve always considered myself to be a fast scrapper, but I find that my pages hover well above the half hour mark. So I was pleased that this page turned out so quickly, because I happen to love it!

Have a great weekend!

Mari Koegelenberg Is Back!!

I apologize for the absence on my blog.. I actually was on vacation for two weeks (yay!) and had a lovely time, but I am glad to be back to my craft room now. 🙂

Something really exciting happened while I was gone.. Mari Koegelenberg opened up a new digital shop and is back to designing!! So so so happy to be playing with her designs once again! She has a gorgeous brand new collection that I love, aptly named Fresh Start.
I have been on Mari’s creative team for over five years and I can’t begin to express how grateful I am. She is such a lovely person and I am so glad to know her! Here’s what I made with this gorgeous kit:

I was also super inspired by the gorgeous brushes included in this collection, and broke out my watercolors to make a card and some tags.

Have a good Sunday!

Heck Yeah

Yay for the weekend! And yay for the World Cup.. are you a soccer fan?? I sure am! 😉
Anyway, back to scrapbooking.. here’s a lovely new kit that I had fun playing with this week! I love the orange, teal, yellow and gray combination! Here’s the card I made with it.

Enjoy your weekend! I am alone this weekend so I’ll make sure to get my craft on, yay!

June BYOC

I scrapped this week. Oh yes I scrapped. And I bet you will want to too, once you see the June BYOC at The Lilypad. :))

I really am not much for purple at all, but I’ve fallen in love with this BYOC!

Next up, I have a page documenting a very special happening.

We have a robin nest on our deck, and we’ve been able to look at the progression. It’s just so sweet! The nest is quite high and we’ve only been able to sneak phone pictures there (sadly out of focus), but it was worth documenting! And this timeline template was just perfect!

OK.. last page now.

And for being someone who doesn’t like purple.. I am digging the purple on this page! 🙂

Anniversary Week – Day 5

{this is part of a series I wrote for write.click.scrapbook. You can find the full post here}

Welcome to the last day of this Anniversary Week! Today I am sharing some ideas for anniversary gifts.

Some of these projects don’t require photos, and others do, so you can pick the project based off of what you have available.

Let’s start with a photo-less project. Here is a set of personalized coasters I made. I bought the tiles at Lowe’s and covered them up with different digital papers.

Last year my in-laws’ celebrated their 50th anniversary, so I collected a bunch of photos from their family and friends and made a photo collage. We had it printed and framed for them. They loved it!

Next, I want to share two frames I decorated. These make a great gift too. I got the frame from Michaels and it’s very easy to cover up and embellish.

This other frame was from the dollar store, and I covered it up with paper.

Finally, I wanted to share the wall heart-shaped photo display I put together. I prepared photo and paper squares of ~3 inches side and arranged them in a heart shape. I just love how this looks in our living room!

I hope you enjoyed all the anniversary inspiration this week!

Little One

I love the new collection by Digital Design Essentials! And it’s such a steal at $5.99!

The theme is babies, but it’s such a versatile collection! I used it for two cards.

These are very simple one layer cards, printed on matte photo paper.
Here’s a closer look at each card.

For those of you celebrating Memorial Day, I hope you are having a lovely day! I certainly enjoyed the unofficial start of summer!

At Sea Cards

I’m late in posting this, but Sahlin Studio and Britt-ish Designs’ latest installment of the Project Mouse series is so much fun!

Perfect for cruises, sea/lake, and so much more! I made two hybrid cards with it.

Here they are one by one.

I was inspired to make a round card and used my newly acquired Big Shot to cut the circle.

I hope you had a great weekend! Alas, I have not had any crafty time this weekend.. too much work/study to do. Next weekend is National Scrapbooking Day so I am really hoping to get some scrapbooking time.. but it’s not looking good! Do you have plans for NSD?

Hoppy Easter!

OK.. Easter is tomorrow, but I just have to share this adorable new kit by Jenn Barrette (20% off today) and the card I made with it!
These colors are just so pretty, and they look so vibrant when printed out on matte paper! I made a trifold card.

Happy Easter!
