Whew! And the weekend isn’t even over yet!

I’ve had lots of scrapping time this weekend, and I certainly made the most of it! πŸ˜‰ And I’m not even done for today! πŸ˜€

Here are 4 LOs with pictures from Thursday, and I’ll be scrapping more soon. I took a lot of gorgeous pictures! (not that it was hard at all.. the flowers in the park were stunning!)

The 2 birdies on the left are glued on the card, while those on the right are all digital (shadow included).
I also did another card, but I cannot show if for a couple of weeks.. πŸ˜‰

Fun Weekend

I haven’t scrapped the last part of the week, but I’m catching up this weekend. πŸ™‚

First, the matching page for the April summary:

Then I plunged into hybrid and did a frame for a 4×4″ picture that had been sitting around our house for a long time. I used a cereal box for the structure and prettied everything up with Mod Podge:

Off to scrap some more. πŸ˜‰

Lots of Projects, Not Enough Time!

I’ve been doing so many things lately than I hardly have time to blog them! πŸ˜‰

After a few weeks of quiet, I have gotten back to doing some hybrid cuteness. πŸ™‚

First, a motivation album I put together in the April workshop at TheDigiChick:

and then some notepads and clips (for a hybrid challenge at TDC):

I love all the goodies I picked up at TDC this weekend: I got some gorgeous kits by Sugarplum Paperie (Meadowlark, My Heart’s Song and Strawberry Cafe Revisited), Pamela Donnis’ grab bag and Mira Designs’ grab bag. Just AWESOME! πŸ˜‰ Too much good stuff, and too many projects, if only I had enough time to do it all! πŸ™‚

Me Mini Accordion Album

I’m loving hanging out at TheDigiChick lately and I took part in a workshop there. Throughout the month of March, we put together a mini album, and this weekend I actually printed it out and assembled it. It turned out really cute!!!! (And in case you were wondering, yes, I do have a thing with pink right now..)

I used exclusively products by Sugarplum Paperie for doing this.
The only drawback of this project is that I never used acrylic colors before and they don’t quite work as I expected.. So painting the tin box was more troublesome than I had anticipated.. Anyway, everything turned out well in the end! πŸ™‚
(Yes, I did buy the mints just to use the tin box… πŸ˜‰ )

Happy Spring Banner

Between yesterday after dinner and part of the evening today I have completed a very cute and simple hybrid project.

I created a spring banner with some 7 coasters I picked up at Red Lobster πŸ™‚ (I had 7 coasters, since I picked 5 up when we went with my parents around Christmas, and 2 more on a later visit with DH, so it worked really well with the letters I planned to use: one coaster for “happy”, and one each for the 6 letters in “spring”). πŸ™‚
Yesterday I designed the LOs, printed them out on normal paper, cut them out (cutting out circles is soooo boring! ;)), and stuck all 14 of them to the coasters with Mod Podge (of course, I made the banner double sided).
I debated whether to create a horizontal banner as inspired by jjstar, but I wouldn’t know where to hang it.. and I suddenly had the inspiration: create a vertical banner! We have a few hooks in the ceiling in our house (there’s one in the kitchen, one in the living room and one in the 2nd bedroom) Β so it worked out perfect!
Today I finished the circles brushing them with Mod Podge: I applied 2 layers of Mod Podge perpendicular to each other as inspired by jjstar’s creation, and I love the texture!!
I punched holes in the coasters with my Crop-a-dile. Finally, since I only have very few ribbon at home (red, black, and autumn inspired!) I used twine to connect the circles – it turned out very cute!

I still want to buy some ribbon that matches the colors to embellish it a bit, but it’s already very cute as it is!
The most painful thing of the whole project was taking a picture, because of course the banner keeps spinning around and it was hard to get a shot with all the letters showing up! πŸ™‚
It’s amazing how only a few months ago, when I first started hybrid, this project would have taken me days and days to finish! I’m really proud of myself – and so happy I got into hybrid in the first place! πŸ™‚

Birthday Card

I prepared a birthday card for my Mom today and it turned out super cute! πŸ™‚
I used Cutieful Doodleful Youville by Polka Dot Plum and Amy Sumrall to prepare the card:
then I simply printed it, cut it out and mod podged it for finish. I gave diagonal strokes. πŸ™‚
Finally, glued it to a blank 5×7 card with Mod Podge. Et voila’!
I used normal paper and of course when I mod podged it the color did bleed a little, but it didn’t bother me because it actually made the background paper pinkier. πŸ™‚
It think it turned out really cute!! When the picture looks better than the digital version, you definitely know your hybrid project was a hit! πŸ˜‰
Yep, I took these pretty pictures in our light tent, albeit still with our living room lamp and not the really nice one we bought for the tent – still need to buy a lamp holder for that! πŸ™‚

Valentine’s Day Mailbox

Valentine’s Day is less than 2 weeks away and I finally had some time this weekend to play with the $1 mailbox I got at Target.

I choose a very cute kit by Polka Dot Plum to embellish it, Que Sera Sera.

I measured the dimensions of the mailbox and prepared the digital parts I wanted. Then,Β I was ready to print.
Unfortunately, the mailbox is very small, but not small enough to print on letter paper, if you want to cover the whole side of the mailbox with paper. I used A4 paper because I had some at home (length 11.7 inches) and I could fit everything on one sheet; so your option would be either have this printed at your local print shop on 12 inch paper, or use a 12 inch paper at home, or use multiple letter papers.
I used matte paper because I’ve lately discovered I love it, but glossy photo paper would work too (though it’s more delicate to handle and might get ruined if you’re new to hybrid like me).
Once you have everything printed out, it’s time to cut. I used my cutter+ruler to cut the paper strip for the side, and scissors for all the other smaller bits.
To adhere properly the paper strip for the side behind the flag, I cut a small indentation on both sides of the paper in correspondence of the flag, so it would fit in nicely.
To cut the front and back parts of the mailbox precisely, I recommend first tracing the outline of the door with a pen/pencil and then cutting it out with scissors.
Now that we have all the pieces ready, we’re ready to glue. I used Mod Podge applied with a foam brush. I only used a very small quantity of Mod Podge and it worked very well.
Now it’s time for some embellishments! I didn’t have any matching ribbon, so I only applied a few buttons (I bought a 200 multi-color button pack at WalMart for $.88), sticking them with glue dots.
I used one to cover the ugly metal thing that holds the flag:
and a few for the front and back:
A very simple and cute project for Valentine’s Day! You can fill it with candies or small treats and a card, or just let it sit somewhere in your house (as I will!) to decorate for Valentine’s Day.

Last Christmas Ornament (for this year..)

Finally, this idea of a circular ornament has been put into practice. Better late than never! πŸ™‚

I cut out a circle from a used cardboard box (instant mashed potatoes :)), printed out the 2 sides on normal paper and ModΒ Podged them for finish:

Then I glued the two sides to the cardboard with Mod Podge and was ready to use another of the marvelous gifts my adorable husband gave me for Christmas: the crop-a-dile (the big bite, too!):
Hole punched, ribbon, and the ornament is ready to be hung.
A little note: pictures are straight out of the camera (the new one, of course!!) – I took them when it was dark (as usual).
In our family, the Christmas season ends on January 6th, and it’s sad to see most of our neighbors have already pulled down the Christmas lights!
I’m really moody today because my parents+grandmother left today, and who knows when we’ll see each other again.. πŸ™ But we spent a beautiful, perfect Christmas together and I feel so blessed and lucky.

Christmas Tag/Ornament

I did another Christmas hybrid goodie for a challenge at Sugarplum Paperie on personalized treats.
I created a star tag that can be used to accompany some cookies and then can be used as a Christmas ornament.
The only problem is, it took me forever to assemble it!!!!!!!! πŸ™‚
I printed the star shape twice on normal paper (so the ornament is double-sided) and I took a piece of cardboard from a frozen pizza box (I peeled off the printed part so it wouldn’t show under my star paper).
The cutting process, however, was painstaking, because I wanted to make sure no cardboard could be seen. I wish I found a quick way to accomplish this step! πŸ™‚
I used mainly scissors, and occasionally the craft knife to trim the inner angles.
Anyway, once I cutted everything nicely
I glued the paper to the cardboard with my loyal Mod Podge.
While it dried, I resorted to make a hole so the star could be hung. Since I have no paper scrapbooking experience, I don’t have any fancy instruments either (no cute hole punches for me..), so I simply used the 3-hole punch I use for school. This took me some extra time because I wanted to make sure I centered the hole properly on the star. Luckily, no damage occurred!
Finally, I brushed the star with Mod Podge for finish. The tag can be tied with a ribbon to a bag of cookies (I didn’t have a bag sorry!) and once the cookies are eaten it can turn into a nice Christmas ornament:
I really love the final result!

More Cards!

During this Thanksgiving break I’ve been having some good hybrid inspiration, and I did 2 more cards!

I actually like this so much that I was thinking about making an ornament out of it, to hang somewhere in the house!
