Fun Kits!

Amy has 2 new kits in the store today, and they’re both adorable!!

The first is her collab with Polka Dot Plum, Cutieful Doodleful Youville – it’s great to see this back in the store!

And the other kit is the brand new Hula Monkey – it’s soooo cute!

Here’s a little hybrid project I did with it:

AND the good news is that the DigiChick is having a sale, everything is 30% off until Sunday – including these 2 beautiful new releases!!! πŸ˜‰
(and, if you’re subscribed to TDC’s newsletter, check out the 40% coupon for Amy’s store until the end of the month!)

Finally!

The hybrid challenge I’m hosting at ScrapMatters is finally live, so I can share the project I did for it. I’m so proud of it!! πŸ˜‰

I used the gorgeous collab Tropical Escape by Erica Zane and Mari Koegelenberg for this frame. You can find it at ScrapMatters and the DigiChick.
I actually chose this kit because it matched beautifully the Prima flowers I had just bought! πŸ˜‰
Physical supplies: wooden frame by Michael’s, Mod Podge, glue dots, buttons from Wal-Mart, beads, Epson matte presentation paper, Prima flowers.
I got the idea for sticking the the beads on the buttons from the CK blog and I love the result! So pretty!

Getting Ready for Christmas…

Artscow had a sale a couple of weeks ago: a deck of personalized cards, only $6.99 including shipping. Since my parents love to play cards, I thought this would make a perfect gift for them! I’ll actually use it as a stocking filler for Christmas! πŸ™‚

Here’s the cards:

I decorated them with pictures of my parents, their initials and a few elements in theme. πŸ™‚
I used the gorgeous Jackpot by Britt-ish Designs for this – just perfect!

Now let’s see if I can resist until Christmas to give them to my parents.. πŸ˜‰ I’m not sure when I’ll see them, so it does look like I’ll have to wait a few months.

Fridge Magnets

For a very long time I’ve wanted to try to make fridge magnets. I bought the fundamental material (glass marbles and magnets) months ago (at WalMart and Michael’s respectively) so this weekend I decided it was time to give it a try.

First off, I printed out the designs for my magnets. I used Amy Sumrall’s super cute kits, Oh So Happy, Berry Sweet and Little Bunny Foo Foo.

I printed on normal paper and cut the designs out. Then, I applied a thin layer of Mod Podge on the circles as I normally do for sealing, but this time I put a glass marble on top. I liked that you can still move around the paper to center it properly, but then the Mod Podge dries off pretty quickly as usual.

Then, I used some tacky glue to glue the magnets to the paper+glass marbles. I just put a drop of tacky glue on the magnets and adhered the paper+glass to them. These need to dry a bit longer than Mod Podge, but within 10 minutes my magnets were ready to go on the fridge!

The glass marbles magnify the design below and the final effect is so pretty! Even DH appreciated the final result! πŸ™‚

I put off this project for a really long time because I wasn’t sure which glue would work for attaching the magnets, but in the end the glue I had worked beautifully! I’ll be doing more of these for sure. πŸ˜‰

Keyholder Frame

I worked on a very cute little project this weekend, inspired by Mari Koegelenberg’s project featured on The Hybrid Chick blog.

I showed Mari’s post to DH before creating my own keyholder frame and this is actually the first project that got endorsed by DH! But I anticipated this would happen, since DH always loses his keys in the house and not once, but twice has managed to lock himself out of the house… :-/

So, I picked up Amy Sumrall’s super cute Berry Sweet kit and prepared the digital bits and pieces.
I was super lucky because I found a white frame at the Dollar store and bought white hooks at Lowe’s, so I didn’t have to paint anything. Not that it would have been a big deal, but it saved me some time! πŸ™‚
I used my favorite material, frozen pizza box, πŸ™‚ to create the backing for the tags.

I used Mod Podge to glue the tags on the chipboard and some ribbon and eyelets to pretty them up; I had DH help to screw the hooks in and the frame was ready in no time! πŸ˜‰

Here’s the detail of the tags: I created one for DH, one for me, one for the car keys and one for the shed, plus an unnamed one. πŸ™‚

It’s really cute and I think I might make some seasonal changes too. I chose summery colors which are perfect for now but I would love to change it in the fall, and for Christmas!

(Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures, but the frame is hanging in a poorly lit part of the house and today’s a rainy day.. Since I added 2 glue dots to the back to keep it more stable when keys are hung/picked up, I didn’t want to take the frame down just because I needed better pictures. πŸ™‚ )

Just A Sneak Peek

I worked on a very cute little hybrid project today, but unfortunately it was almost dark when I finished it so I couldn’t take good pictures of it. I’ll take a few tomorrow, and post more pictures of how I did the project, but for now I want to show just a little sneak peek of the final result:

House Album

Well, it took me some 4 months, but I finally took some pictures of the hybrid album I prepared for DH for Valentine’s day, so I can show it off at last! πŸ™‚

It’s the very first album I ever did and I’m so proud of it!

I wanted to do a house album but I couldn’t find any chipboard albums in the craft stores around here, so I decided to build my own album out of cereal boxes, frozen food boxes, etc.
First, I started creating the pages on my computer and printing them out. I sized the pages so that I could print two each on a sheet of matte A4 paper I had at home.
Next, I cut the pages out and created a template from a cereal box simply outlining the printed page with a pencil.
Cut, cut, cut, cut…
I made 20 pages(!) so this means 20 printed pages plus 10 chipboard pages to be cut.. I did this over a few evenings: my hand would have hurt way too much if I cut them all at once! πŸ˜‰
At this point, I punched holes and added flower brads to some of my pages. Then, I Mod Podged them to glue them to the chipboard. I punched holes with my Crop-a-dile to bind the pages.
I debated whether or not to add eyelets, because the front pages would look pretty but theΒ back pages would have the back of the eyelets that aren’t as pretty, but I ended up putting them.
I also printed a cover on a transparency and used an electric wire to bind the pages. I found this wire in my office and I thought the colors were just perfect for the album, so I used it to create a flower embellishment for the cover too.
And here’s the complete album:

Wedding Anniversary

I already knew it, but it’s official once more: I have the best husband ever!!
Yesterday was our 2nd wedding anniversary and he gave me a gorgeous necklace.. it’s just beautiful!! And then he brought me out to dinner in our favorite restaurant. It was a wonderful evening!

I can now show off the card and wedding frame I prepared for him:

We didn’t have any wedding pictures in our house and I felt we really needed one! πŸ˜‰

This is the hardest hybrid project I’ve worked on so far, because cutting and applying the paper wasn’t easy since it’s not a flat frame.. However, I think it turned our beautifully and I’m glad I gave it a try! πŸ™‚

We took some pretty pictures on Monday (and I’m glad we did because yesterday the weather was bad!) and I’ll consider them our anniversary pictures even if taken 1 day early. πŸ™‚ I scrapped one right away that will go in our 2010 calendar:

With all the celebrations for DH coming home and our anniversary, I’ve taken a serious fall from the Queen of Scrap top ten, just barely in 10th place.. Ugh! I need to find some time to scrap tonight!

Blogging at Last!

This has been a super busy week for me and I’ve spent all my free time in the evenings scrapping because I’m giving a serious shot at the Queen of Scrap competition at ScrapMatters, so I haven’t had a chance to show off here what I’ve been doing.
For the past 3 days I’ve been doing 3 pages per night, and here they are. πŸ˜‰

I haven’t been getting nearly enough sleep, though.. πŸ˜›
