Catching Up..

| cristina

I’ve been a very bad blogger this week! But going back to work after the Christmas break was tough, and on top of it I received some very bad news from a friend and I’ve been out of sorts lately.

But hey, life goes on, and I have lots of pictures from Christmas to scrap. Here’s a few, taken on Christmas morning, the very first pictures taken with the new camera. 🙂

I’ve been regularly taking my pics for Project 365 but haven’t had time to put together this week’s LO yet. I’ll get to it soon anyway!

I really love the Holly Jolly Holiday kit by Polka Dot Plum. This is the 3rd LO I do using it (plus a hybrid ornament!) and I’m not tired of it in the least!! 🙂

Week 1

| cristina

So here’s my first pictures for Project 365 – it seems like I’ll be doing a Project 365 for pictures and a Project 52 for scrapbooking. 🙂
I kept the page real simple, because this will turn into an album that is in addition to my regular LOs, not a replacement.

Als0, since I’d like to have a uniform style throughout the album, it’s likely that I will change fonts/titles sometime.
I downloaded quite a few templates created for Project 365, but I ended up not using one: it’s hard to use a template when your pictures have a certain orientation, and size, and order..
As you can see, for me the week starts on Monday, so the first week of the year ended today, on Sunday.

DH and I decided to leave the Christmas decorations up for another week. Then, the Christmas season will be officially over. 🙁

New Year Resolution?

| cristina

I usually never do New Year resolutions, because I never maintain them, and this year is no exception. That’s why I’m not even committing to do Project 365, even though I’ve started it and want to keep doing it. If I can do it, I’ll be happy, but I don’t want too much pressure if I fail.

However, I do have a goal this year: I want to use the fancy camera DH gave me for Christmas, and I want to use it well. I hope to improve my photography skills and especially to have fun in the process. I scrapped a LO for a challenge at SM:

I used the Pretty Grungy kit by Bree – I love how versatile it is!

Welcome 2009

| cristina

Happy New Year everyone!

There’s a lot of interest all over the web for Project 365. I read about it months ago, and recently re-learnt about it from IkeaGoddess. The project is to take a photo a day, for a year.

I like the idea, but I’m not really sure how to apply it. Taking a photo a day shouldn’t be a problem (actually, I might have the opposite problem: I tend to take many pictures once I start, so choosing just one photo a day will be really hard). And then since I’m all about scrapping, how should I scrap them? Ideally, a 2-pager per week would work well.
But I like to dwell over the minor and major events in my life so scrapping 3/4 pictures from different days on one page is not going to be enough for me..
Anyway, I’ll start it for now, and we’ll see where it leads me. I will take more than one photo a day and will try to choose just one for the Project, and use all the ones I want to scrap as usual.
Here’s my first LO of 2009 and it’s one I’m very pleased with:

The Last LO of 2008

I managed to scrap one more LO before the clock strikes midnight. 🙂

We took this group photo with my new camera on Christmas Day.

Now I can go get ready for New Year’s Eve dinner! 😀 See you all next year!

Last Christmas Ornament (for this year..)

| cristina

Finally, this idea of a circular ornament has been put into practice. Better late than never! 🙂

I cut out a circle from a used cardboard box (instant mashed potatoes :)), printed out the 2 sides on normal paper and Mod Podged them for finish:

Then I glued the two sides to the cardboard with Mod Podge and was ready to use another of the marvelous gifts my adorable husband gave me for Christmas: the crop-a-dile (the big bite, too!):
Hole punched, ribbon, and the ornament is ready to be hung.
A little note: pictures are straight out of the camera (the new one, of course!!) – I took them when it was dark (as usual).
In our family, the Christmas season ends on January 6th, and it’s sad to see most of our neighbors have already pulled down the Christmas lights!
I’m really moody today because my parents+grandmother left today, and who knows when we’ll see each other again.. 🙁 But we spent a beautiful, perfect Christmas together and I feel so blessed and lucky.

Christmas Pastime

Here’s the LO I did to match this one. I lifted a LO by Yzerbear91 (Melissa) for a challenge at SM.

We had lots of fun playing cards with my parents and grandmother this holiday, and I’m sad they’re leaving tomorrow. They’ve been here 12 days and time has flown by too fast.
The snow has melted completely, but I believe we will see lots more this winter. 🙂

White Christmas

| cristina

I was afraid we might not have snow for Christmas, but we indeed had a very white Christmas! 🙂

I did a LO for the Grand Theft LO challenge at ScrapMatters: I lifted this LO by sarahtawisha and came up with this:

It snowed a lot last week and it lasted for Christmas, but now it’s almost all melted away..

Merry Christmas!

My wonderful husband gave me a beautiful SLR camera for Christmas – better than I could ever dream!! So soon I hope you’ll see much better pics from me. 🙂 In the meantime, this is a pic a took last night with my old camera.
Merry Christmas!
