The Scout reveal is at 3 PM EST today, but subscribers can shop early (starting at noon EST).
You can subscribe to the Documenter kit here.

This is a 6″x8″ insert for a busy week in my Project Life album. I combined the Scout Documenter kit, embellishments from the Mockingbird add on, and the Introvert stamp.

here is the front of the insert:

and the back:

And here are some details.

The “it was written in the stars” card is another favorite this month! I layered the fabulous glitter tape and rubber embellishments in the Mockingbird add on here.

The stamp is from the Introvert set (currently sold out, but hit “notify me” if you want it to be restocked).

I stuck the vellum alpha stickers from Mockingbird on some white cardboard adhered with foam dots to make them pop.

This was such a fun little insert to make!

Studio Calico June 2016 Kits: Scout – Cards

I also received the card stamp and dies this month, and they were lots of fun to use!

For this card I used the Bug stamp set, the “You’re Sweet” die and the 4×6 paper pad.

I also made a matching envelope.

Here I used the Bug stamp set and added watercolor to the bugs.

On this card I used the Bug stamp set, and the “you’re sweet” and “fun” script dies.

I had lots of fun painting this card! It used the Bug and the Extrovert stamp sets.

I hope you enjoyed these cards! The Scout kits are fantastic this month!

Summer of Sketches

Are you a fan of sketches? I generally do my own thing, but every time I start my page with a sketch I find myself doing something I would not have tried on my own, and I love the challenge. There’s a new awesome class at Studio Calico that goes on all summer, and it’s called Summer of Sketches.

Looking for some creative inspiration to get you through the summer? Join Jamie Waters and her team of talented contributors for a summer-long session of “round robin” sketch inspiration. From June to August, each week will bring you a new lesson bursting with fresh sketches that provide the ultimate starting point for any story you want to tell. Every Monday, students will have access to a new video and layout from Jamie, two additional layouts from contributors and four all new sketches. By the end of class, you’ll have access to a treasure trove of inspiration, ready for any time you need a little creative boost! Summer of Sketches starts June 6th.

And the class price includes an awesome 4″x6″ stamp!
See you in class!

Kill My Studio Calico Kit: January – Arendal

Hello and welcome back for another month of Kill My Studio Calico Kit! I wasn’t expecting to have this post up so soon, but I was inspired by National Scrapbooking Day and made 7 pages with Arendal today, so this kit is now killed!

This is the 7th installment of this series, and in total I have made a whopping 93 layouts. Yay me!
This month I got the Studio Calico scrapbook main kit, Arendal ($34.99, but I bought it at the kit sale they had in March for $17.00), as well as the Canal Street embellishment kit ($7 at the kit sale).

Notes: I really love the colors this month – pink and lavender and yellow. I love the puffy stickers and the frames in the main kit, and the puffy stickers in Canal Street.

Kill my Studio Calico kit is a monthly series I started on my blog to hold myself accountable and use up my kits. You can subscribe to the Studio Calico Scrapbook kit here.

Status: killed!
I made 9 layouts (4 12″x12″, 5 8.5″x11″), for a total of $27, or $3.38/page. I supplemented the kit with some items from my stash (stamps, paints, cardstock and the odd embellishment).

And here is a look at what I made with the kit.

This was a fun page tom make! I used silkscreens and paint to add texture to the page.

I love how this page turned out!

I piled several die cuts, paper strips and frames on top of the busy background.

This is one of my favorite pages this month! I loved this photo so I kept it big for this page.

I toned down the card stock background a bit using gesso.

The strip of the paper with the numbers is from my least favorite paper from the kit this month, I couldn’t bring myself to use more but I love the look of this strip on this page.

I used the mega date stamp on this page (it’s getting restocked next month if you’re interested!).

The lavender card stock was from my stash. I used the big letters from Canal Street as a mask and added mist on top (white and blue).  It turned out just as I’d hoped! The journal card is from the Documenter kit, and the cork snowflakes are from my stash.
And here is the last page, made the day after NSD.

My last page features a lot of hand stitching. The design was inspired by that awesome card from the Documenter kit that I was hoarding. I wish the black + gold would photograph better! Anyway I am thrilled with how this page turned out! The gold alpha and star embellishments are from my stash. I embossed the large number from Canal Street with grapefruit Zing embossing powder.

And what wraps up this month! I hope you are enjoying this series. All items were purchased by me and if you use the affiliate inks in this post I will happily receive a small commission, at no additional cost to you. Thanks to those who left comments on my Kill My Studio Calico Kit blog series – I will keep going!

Kill My Studio Calico Kit: December – Lollipop Guild

Hello and welcome back for another month of Kill My Studio Calico Kit! This is the sixth installment of this series, and in total I have made a whopping 83 layouts. Yay me!
This month I only got the Studio Calico scrapbook main kit, Lollipop Guild ($34.99), and then I recently bought the Tin Man embellishment kit $7 at last month’s kit sale.

Notes: I love the colors of this month’s papers! And the embellishments are so much fun – the gold dipped letters, the vellum shapes, the black words and the stamp stickers – I love them all.
The stamp in the embellishment kit is awesome!

Kill my Studio Calico kit is a monthly series I started on my blog to hold myself accountable and use up my kits. You can subscribe to the Studio Calico Scrapbook kit here.

Status: killed!
I made 10 layouts (6 12″x12″,10 8.5″x11″), for a total of $41.99, or $4.2/page. I supplemented the kit with some embellishments from the Project Life kit, plus some items from my stash (stamps, and the odd embellishment). Here’s a roundup of all the pages I made:

And here is what I have left:

Leftovers: I am pretty sure this is the most I have ever killed a kit! I likely have enough to make one more page using that red paper that was one of my favorites this month. This month I didn’t have to use any card stock from my stash.

And here is what I made with the kit.

This page makes me happy! I used a favorite photo and I just love the juxtaposition of black, red and gold.

The bold papers in this kit are just right up my alley! Here I also added a printable from The Lilypad for the left page, while the right page is all using the Lollipop Guild scrapbook kit and the Tin Man add on. Here’s a look at the right page on its own:

Those stickers were perfect for a page about New York City!
The rest of the pages were done all in one day.. I was on a roll for sure! 🙂

This page was done with the main kit only. I used the vellum, rubber and enamel stars in the kit, and cut some more from patterned paper.

This page is a tribute to my mom, who is the best! This page is done with the scrapbook main kit only, plus some plastic tickets from the Project Life kit.

I tried something different on this page, and I love how it turned out! I used some acrylic paint on the background, and sprinkled some glitter on top. I thought the Tour Eiffel went well with the French theme of the page. The gold “cheers” word comes from the Project Life kit.

Here I used the Maggie alpha for the title (it’s out of stock unfortunately), as well as the stamp set from the Tin Man add on stamped with the silver pigment ink that came with it.

On this page I used some bits left over from the previous month – the background and the red papers.

This is one of my favorite pages with this month’s kit – I just love the colors. It’s not a mix of colors I would have paired on my own, but I absolutely love it! I used the gold alphas from the Canyonlands kit and some puffy gold stars and dots from my stash.

The patterned paper I used for the background is really busy, but I love the look! I used a glassine bag to tone down the area behind the photo. I used some gold letters leftover from the previous month’s kit. Every year we go out after the traditional Messiah concert, and this is what this page is about.

For the last page I put together most of the remaining bits and scraps of paper I had left. Again, not a traditional color scheme for Christmas, but it totally works for me! The colored rubber stars are from the Project Life kit.

And that wraps up this month! Are you enjoying this blog series? Should I keep going? Leave me a comment and let me know!

April Mixed Media Monthly at The Lilypad

I’m so excited for today’s Mixed Media Monthly (M3) release at The Lilypad!

Credits:

On the first page, I combined the M3 main kit with some of the fabulous add ons. This month’s theme is calm / passing the storm, and all the rain elements worked perfectly to document a very rainy but lovely day we had in New York City last week.

Sketchbook 9 and Rainy Wordart by Lynne-Marie

It’s hard to pick a favorite in the M3 collection, but it’s probably the paper backgrounds – there is so much variety and they are the best way to stat your page! This month, they even included a coloring page. I have never done coloring (or at least the adult coloring trend that is so popular right now), but as soon as I saw this page I knew I wanted to try it. It’s such a cool design! So I did, and used it for this 2-page layout:

Lollipop Guild scrapbook kit from Studio Calico (right page)

Here’s a closer look at the coloring page:

I printed it on heavy cardstock and then added my coloring – first with markers, and then with watercolors (my favorite). I decided not to fill the whole page because I loved the black&white look too. I love how it turned out! And it was the perfect complement for the right page, which is all made with physical scrapbook products.

I love that busy background and how it’s toned down by the colored page on the left.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great end of the week!

Film Club Kits at Studio Calico

Keeping up with what has become a new tradition this year, I made a page with the digital releases from Studio Calico and I am happy to share it with you today – reveal day! Shopping starts at 12 PM EST for subscribers and at 3 PM EST for everyone else, but the digitals are already for sale so no need to wait any longer!

I had so much fun making this page! I started out with a smaller 6″x8″ canvas and layered some printables from this month’s digital releases (the 3×3 Neon Words cards and pieces of the 12×12 digital papers, as well as the printables by Hello Forever and In A Creative Bubble). I added some embellishments from the kits I picked up at the recent past kit sale – Nes Verk, BRB and Canal Street. I loved all the pops of color and decided to add them to a 12×12 white background to make them pop even more.

Here’s a closer look at the details.

Happy Reveal day!
