December Daily 2015

Is it too early to think about Christmas? I think it is… but at the same time I couldn’t resist get some of my Christmas supplies out to scrap a tradition of years past using some of the latest December Daily products by Ali Edwards.

The icons I used on those 9 circles come from the December Daily Icon Digital Stamp. And since they are digital brushes, I could make them exactly the size I needed for my page. I also added colors to some of them in a traditional Christmas scheme.

I added some of my oh-so-hoarded Christmas embellishments, and the page was done.

I love how it turned out!

Black & White Story Kit

Today I am sharing a page made with this month’s Digital Story Kit from Ali Edwards. If you purchase either the digital or physical story kit or the stamp, you get access to the online content – inspiration and story sparks from Ali about the month’s theme.
This month’s theme – black & white – really resonated with me, and I made this page to reflect a bit about who I am.

This is a hybrid page made with the digital Story Kit. The background was made by repeating one of the journaling cards. I just added a couple embellishments to add a pop of color and texture.

Build Digital Story Kit

The theme for Ali Edwards’s Digital Story kit for August is Build. And I was inspired to make two hybrid pages with it today. I combined them with my Studio Calico kits from this month (Pop Art).
For the first page, I printed some of the Build digital brushes onto white card stock. I tried feeding the paper through my typewriter but I couldn’t get it through, so I typed my journaling on copy paper and pasted it there.

Just yesterday I got the news of a big work success I achieved, and this is how I chose to document it.
Here are a couple details:

The next page is all about pretty paper and embellishments. I love that floral paper from Crate Paper!
The design was 100% inspired by that big cross from the Build kit. I colored it navy and printed it on my kraft background, along with the title (This Is What It’s All About). I also added a brush on top of my photo.

I paired this page with my favorite embellishments this month – gold washi tape and puffy plus stickers. 🙂 I can’t believe I had not scrapbooked this lovely family photo yet!

I hope you’re having a great weekend!

(and these are pages 8 and 9 with my kit this month.. yay!)

Good Riddance July

I am definitely on a scrap roll these days, and I’m loving it. This is the latest page I came up with. Very simple design, with some yellow and blue touches to tie together the different pieces.

I layered on my photo a digital brush by Ali Edwards prior to printing. I made it yellow to match the plastic balloon and the backdrop of the July cutout.

Here’s to hoping that August turns out better than July did. So far, I’m not seeing much of an improvement.. but at least it’s almost time for the weekend!

Be Fearless

Sahlin Studio has a new kit in the store at The Lilypad:

I was really inspired and ended up making a hybrid page with lots on fun colors.

As soon as I saw this paper from the kit, I knew I wanted to print it out and color it. So I did! 🙂

I used a mix of watercolors (Caran d’Ache Neocolor II and Peerless) applied with a water brush to highlight a few phrases.

Then I added some gold mist splatters, chipboard hearts and a die cut vellum paper.

I love how the background acts as motivational journaling!

I added embellishments to match the three main colors of my page: pink, blue and yellow.

I added a pink vellum letter for my initial.

It was so much fun to put this page together. I hope you like it. Have a great end of the week!

Week in the Life

Ali Edwards is gearing up to document her Week in the Life next month, and in addition to a physical kit she also has some digital products available.

I have done my first Week in the Life album last year, and look forward to documenting one week again this year. But for now, I started playing with the digital items, and I love them! Those 3″x8″ strips have so many possibilities!

I printed out some elements from the digital kit and made this 8.5″x11″ hybrid page. So simple and easy to put together!

So Much Love

This month’s theme for the Story Kit at Ali Edwards’s is Roots. I was inspired to dig out some old polaroid photos of me with my grandparents. I love these photos! I used the brush in the kit to make the backdrop for the photos.

I printed the designs onto kraft cardstock.

And the title says it all… so much love!

I love how this page turned out.

Fight Song

One of the things I love the most about scrapbooking, other than it gives me a chance to be creative and play with pretty paper, is that it makes me slow down and reflect on what are the things that really matter in my life. These past few weeks have been rough at work as I am waiting for some big news that has been delayed by over a month now. I am trying to cope with the uncertainty the best I can, but the stress has spilled into my whole life. Which is not good. So I made this page, to incite myself to keep going.

This is a hybrid page. I printed the text of the song (using the High Jump font by Amy Martin) and the “jump in” brush from Ali Edwards on a patterned background, then I added all the embellishments.

It’s funny, I usually am not inspired to use lyrics on my pages.. but this time it was just the perfect jumpstart for this page.

Today (& Always)

Hello! For some unexpected turn of events my boss decided to give us today off, making this a 4-day weekend, and who am I to complain?? 🙂 The highlights of my day were catching up on my Project Life, and making this hybrid 2-pager.

I used the lovely Thick Day Brushes by Ali Edwards to cut out the days with my Silhouette. The paper I used is from this lovely set by Valorie Wibbens, which is part of the July BYOC.
Here’s a look at the two pages:

I had fun using different alpha stamps on both pages.

I love how the bright days stand out agains the moon.

I finished off the project with some messy stitching and paint splatters. I love how it turned out!
