Recent Photo Challenge

My challenge for the January Month of Challenges at The Lilypad is posted! I hope you will play along! The challenge is to scrap a recent photo (taken in the last 7 days). I used a variety of products that are on sale 50% off today for my page. πŸ™‚

Have a nice day!

Project Life 2013 – Week 1

I finished my Week 1 a couple of days ago, and it feels so good! I became a subscriber at Studio Calico for their Project Life kit, and I am so glad I did! The January kit is sold out. I love what I got: lots of journaling cards in different shapes and orientations, stamps, labels, washi tape and a cute little alpha.. Perfect for PL! I didn’t use much of it this week because I started working on my spread before the kit arrived, but I think that the touches I did add are so pretty!

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

This week I had a lot of photos (we made a short trip to visit some friends), so I added an insert (Design G photo pocket). I’m sorry but I won’t be sharing the second half of the week online for privacy reasons, but I have plenty of details to share for the first half of the week. πŸ™‚

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

Other than the Studio Calico kit, I used Becky Higgins’ grid journaling cards (both 3″x4″ and 4″x6″), and one card by Valorie Wibbens (Today Journal CardsΒ – I have a bunch printed out and ready to go, they’re so pretty and versatile!).

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

I went with red and green accents this week. The red came from the Studio Calico kit (the big “1” card and the washi tape), and I added green just for fun. As you can see, this year I decided to add a .25″ white border to my photos – I love this look! OK, here are some detailed shots.

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

I love to number my weeks, and as soon as I saw the number cards included in the kit I knew I’d be using them for this. πŸ™‚ The stamps I used are by Studio Calico (stamped with Colorbox pigment ink), and the puffy sticker is by Amy Tangerine. I use a Micron pen for journaling.

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

The photo in the top right corner of this page kept falling out, so I added a penguin paperclip to keep it in place, since it went well with the snow theme. πŸ™‚

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

This is the back of my confetti pocket from the title page – love it!

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

I love making simple cards with a photo, some washi tape + stitching, and Β journaling. My favorite part of Project Life is sitting down to journal on the cards. πŸ™‚

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

The arrow stamp is by Dear Lizzy.

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

With the pretty embellishedΒ Today Journal CardΒ by Valorie Wibbens all I had to do was add a photo and journaling.

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

More Studio Calico stamps, plus a camera stamp by Amy Tangerine.

Project Life 2013 - Week 1

I embossed the stamp (by Amy Tangerine) onto vellum using watermark ink and Rouge Zing embossing powder. Then I used the Tim Holtz tiny attacher to attach it to my photo. In case you were wondering, embossing directly on photos just plain doesn’t work… πŸ˜‰ I tried it twice on two different photos (this one and the one of DH and me on the title page) before I finally convinced myself that it cannot be done. πŸ™‚ The powder just turns small dots and doesn’t fill in the whole stamped area. Using vellum is a great option for me- I just love the look of embossing on vellum!

And that’s it for week 1! I hope you enjoyed this (lengthy) post! πŸ™‚

Project Life 2013

And so it begins…

Project Life 2013 - Title page

πŸ˜‰ I have to admit I got stuck when I started working on the title page for my 2013 Project Life album. I chose the pictures but then I wasn’t sure how to proceed. I started digging in my computer and found some pretty awesome things that I had collected throughout the year and not used yet. πŸ™‚ It was easy to put the page together at that point. In the end, I love how the title page turned out!

Project Life 2013 - Title page

I wanted to feature some of my favorite things on the cover page, so I added stamping, embossing, sequins, glitter, washi tape, vellum, confetti and stitching. πŸ™‚ I realized I forgot to add wood veneer, but I had already closed up the pocket by then. πŸ˜‰

Project Life 2013 - Title page

Not sure if you can tell from the pictures, but I printed everything on linen paper by Red River Paper (except the photos) – I love that texture so much!

Project Life 2013 - Title page

After trying it out in my December Daily album, I am in love with pockets filled with glitter, sequins and confetti! I am so happy to have this in the front page of my album. πŸ™‚

Project Life 2013 - Title page

Supplies:
I used a Design F page protectorΒ (the choice was motivated by the left page of week 1, that I’d already started).
The “Hello 2013” card is from the January Project Life kit by Studio Calico. The calendar stamps are by Designs by Lili; the b/w quote card is a freebie by Elise Blaha; the “just begin” card is a freebie by Ali Edwards. Stamps are all by Studio Calico (from the Venice Beach add on – “you & me”, 34th Street card kit “there’s no place like home”, and Day by Day class kit “twenty thirteen and “the best is yet to come”). The star punch, chunky glitter and micro beads (all in the confetti pocket)Β are by Martha Stewart. Mistable camera by Studio Calico; enamel dot by My Mind’s Eye.

I haven’t completed my Week 1 page yet but I’m 3/4 of the way done. I added an insert because I have a lot of pictures this week. πŸ™‚ I hope to get it ready to be shared soon!

December Daily – Days 23-25

Whoops.. I forgot to post the last two pages of my December Daily album here! Here they are. πŸ™‚

DD 2012 - Days 23-25

The reindeer card is from A Month of Memories by Jenn Barrette. Alpha stickers: Basic Grey; the rest is from Kringle & Co. by American Crafts.

DD 2012 - Days 23-25

Day stamp by Kelly Purkey, embellishment from Kringle & Co. by American Crafts plus some glitter brads.

As usual by the time I get to Christmas Day I don’t feel like embellishing much, but it’s OK – I love giving room to photos. πŸ™‚ Another year done, yay!

More Christmas Scrapping

Mari Koegelenberg has a fun add on to her lovely Christmas kit Baking Spirits Bright with Valorie Wibbens in the store today!

I used the add on papers and the kit to scrap a recent memory.

Are you still in the mood to scrap Christmas memories? If so, this kit and add on are just perfect! I just finished my December Daily album (will post photos soon), and I have to say I am ready to move on to regular everyday pictures, and let Christmas be for a while. πŸ™‚

January BYOC at The Lilypad!

I am so excited for all the inspiration at The Lilypad! Not only is the January BYOC in the store, but January is the Month of Challenges: each day a new challenge is posted! I’m loving it and I’m super inspired! And this isn’t only a great motivation to start off the year well and get those memories scrapped – if you complete all 31 challenges by Feb 2nd, you could win a permanent Polly spot (best team ever!!)! Check it out:

I’ll be hosting the challenge for Jan. 16th, but I’m playing along in the challenges too – I want to see how many I can get done! πŸ™‚

After several weeks of little to no scrapping, with the end of the semester and all the holiday activities, I am finally back on schedule and scrapping – and I love it! Here’s what I’ve done with the January BYOC so far.

First off, I was inspired by Valorie Wibbens’ new frames to make a compilation of all my favorite TLP pages from 2012:

Smudge Alpha by Gina Miller

ETA: this page was picked as a weekly highlight at the Club CK blog! πŸ™‚
Fun!! This next page is for the Jan. 1st challenge – Clean and Simple – which is right up my alley.

And since I was loving the frames so much, I made another page with them. πŸ™‚

Vacation Highlights

Not my usual style, but I love how it turned out! πŸ™‚

December Daily – Days 15-23

I am almost done catching up with my December Daily album – and it feels good! We were gone Dec. 26-30, but as soon as I got back home I got working on it. I just have 2 days to go before the album is done. December Daily is for sure my favorite project to work on. πŸ™‚

DD 2012 - Days 16-19

This is probably my favorite spread in the album! The word art card is by Little Butterfly Wings.

DD 2012 - Days 16-19

The alpha stickers and the paper are by Basic Grey. The stamp is a digital element I had cut out with my Silhouette in 2010 for my DD album, but never used. πŸ™‚ I’m loving the number stamp for the date.

DD 2012 - Days 16-19

The letter stickers are from Dear Lizzy. The number stamp is by Kelly Purkey. I covered the Studio Calico wood veneer arrow with Stickles. The green paper is a leftover from a previous page – I stamped the Studio Calico stamp and embossed in gold glitter zing, and then I sprayed Estate Green Mister Huey on top. And here comes my favorite thing in the album…

DD 2012 - Days 16-19

This is my first see through pocket ever, and I love it!! I did some sewing to create compartments, and put in sequins, chunky glitter, punched shapes (snowflakes and stars), wood veneer and micro beads to decorate. I stamped on the back of a digital element (more below) and I love how it turned out! Stamps by Martha Stewart and Kelly Purkey.

DD 2012 - Days 20-21

I really like this spread too. πŸ™‚

DD 2012 - Days 20-21

Here’s the back of the pocket! Not sure which side I like more – I love them both! πŸ˜‰ The word art is by Little Butterfly Wings. The star card is by Paislee Press.

DD 2012 - Days 20-21

The reindeer card  is by Paislee Press, and I added a red sequin for the nose. πŸ™‚

DD 2012 - Days 21-22

The polka red dot wrap was from the chocolate basket pictured above – I love that you can see it peeking from the pocket in the previous page too!

DD 2012 - Day 23

The reindeer paper is from Kitschy Christmas by Jenn Barrette and Sahlin Studio, and I also used the Christmas Journal Cards and Ephemera: Trimming the Tree by Sahlin Studio.

Hello 2013

Wow, 2013 is here already… I am not ready for it to be here yet, but I’ll make the most of it! πŸ™‚ Happy New Year!! 2012 has definitely been a good year for me. I haven’t made any recap pages (yet), but there have been many things to celebrate and be proud of this year. Feeling very blessed…

Happy 2013 card

I wish you a fabulous 2013, filled with joy and health and all good things! I made two Happy 2013 cards – the first one (below) for a friend, while the second one (above) for DH. Both use many of my favorite crafty supplies of 2012 (which you’ll see plenty of in 2013 as well!): Studio Calico stamps, embossing, mists, glitter tape, vellum and sequins. πŸ˜‰

Happy 2013 card

Happy 2013!
