Charity Collab: My Inspiration

I was given the opportunity to scrap with a gorgeous new charity collab for breast cancer awareness put together by some of the designers at The Digichick. All proceeds from the sale of this kit will be donated to the American Cancer Society. And it is such a gorgeous kit!

All the lovely pink in this kit made me want to scrap a page about the most important woman in my life, my Mom. We live far away and I miss her a lot!

The journaling ended up being a bit too personal so I’ll work up a softer version before I show this to my mom. πŸ™‚ I am sure she will love it!

Spookville!

Halloween is coming up and Mari Koegelenberg has designed the cutest Halloween kit ever!! It’s new today and 20% off!

It’s just sooooo pretty! The colors and the patterns are so unusual and eye catching, and look at that adorable girl and the cat!
I used it to make two additional tags for my Halloween banner and I just love how they turned out! (And, as you can see, my black soot distress ink has arrived! Yay!! πŸ˜‰ )

I cannot wait to hang this pretty banner in my home… Almost 2 weeks to Halloween, maybe I can put it up this weekend! πŸ˜€

Just for fun

Journaling:
In the last couple of years I have discovered and developed three passions (scrapbooking, photography and hybrid crafts) and I feel like I will never let go of them as long as I live. Having a creative outlet is now more vital to me than the air I breathe, at times, because it makes me feel free and it reminds me of the life I want to live and of the beauty and grace I am blessed with every day.

Halloween Decor

Since I saw Tim Holtz’s 12 Tags of Christmas project last year, I’ve been wanting to do some tags. So when I was thinking about a project for the October newsletter of ScrapMatters, I put tags and Halloween together and ended up with this Halloween tag banner:

Spooky and Halloween Chic by The Design Girl Boo Bash and Ticket Tape – Halloween by WM [squared] designs After Midnight by Jennifer Labre

As you can see, there are 4 tags so far (but in the meantime I’ve done 2 more – I will be able to show them off in a couple of days! πŸ˜‰ ):

I had so much fun doing these tags!! I decorated the back of the tags with patterned papers.

Both my local AC Moore and Michael’s do not carry Black  Soot distress ink by Ranger. Seriously, that’s a shame!! So since I needed to get this project done, I decided to try out some black glitter instead. (In the meantime, I have purchased the black soot distress ink online and used it for the 2 missing tags that I will post on Thursday.) I bought Martha Stewart’s glitter and I am IN.LOVE!!!! It is so sparkly and fun! OK, a bit messy, but soooo pretty! πŸ™‚
Here’s a closer look at my tags:

I used velvet fluff on the spider web! Fun!

Happy Tuesday! πŸ™‚

It Has Begun!

At this point, I’m not at all sure I’ll ever see this project finished… but it has begun, and I’m loving it! πŸ˜‰

Although I must confess that at times like these I wish I were a traditional scrapper, so I wouldn’t have to go through all the printing & cutting… πŸ˜‰
Anyway, I bought some new Distress Stickles today… very yummy! You can see them in action on the “19”. πŸ™‚

Hybrid Christmas Planner

Back in August I worked on this project for the Sept. newsletter at ScrapMatters and I loved every moment! It was quite an endavour to get it done, but so worth it! I am literally counting the days to December when I can use it and show it off to my family! πŸ™‚
But since I realize most normal people don’t get excited about Christmas in September, I decided to wait a while to share this project. Now that the leaves are falling and holiday season is in the air, it might be the right time to do it. Also, this month’s Getting Hybrid challenge at ScrapMatters is all about creating your own holiday planner, so I hope you’re inspired to join us!
I used this adorable kit by Stolen Moments for my planner:

and since I’m obsessed with pink and green for Christmas this year, I recolored the blue paper with the trees to make it fit my mental picture.

I created all the embellishments (minus the bells, the buttons and the beads of course πŸ˜‰ ) from scratch. It was so much fun!

Sooooooo pretty! πŸ˜€ Posting these pictures now really puts me in the mood for doing my December Daily album! I have no idea if I will find time to complete it, but I sure want to give it a shot, starting this weekend! πŸ™‚

October’s Here!

October is here and I must say I cannot complain about this 50F weather. Especially after coming back last night after spending 4 days in Tucson, AZ, in 100+ weather. Ugh. So good to be home! πŸ™‚

Anyway, I have 2 little somethings to share done with Friday’s new releases at ScrapMatters, both Halloween-y. πŸ™‚
First off, I scrapped a pic of me from last year:

And next is a cute coffin treat box I made a few weeks back and I can finally share it! I used a kit by a new designer at ScrapMatters, Jennifer Labre.

I haven’t played with my Silhouette in a couple of weeks now and I’m so eager to use it! Busy busy busy life though… πŸ™

Yay Me!

This week has been very rewarding for me scrapping-wise! It started off Monday when 2 (yes, two!) of my LOs were featured on the Daily Digi blog (this and this page): thanks to my friend Sunghee for letting me know!! ;). And then today I got a GSO on the GalleryStandouts blog for this page!

I am having another super crazy week at work (just sneaking in 10 minutes to write this post) and absolutely no free time. I had the idea for this page Sunday night and had been dying to scrap it since then! I’m off to a conference tomorrow and flying back next Sunday so I am doubly glad I squeezed in this page last night in half an hour between the laundry and dinner. πŸ™‚
So I guess you want to hear more about the story? πŸ˜‰ Well, our neighbor is a bit OCD about mowing his lawn. He mows it twice a week, which really is a bit too often. Of course, DH is quite the opposite: he mows it every 2 weeks, which is not quite often enough. πŸ™‚ But our neighbor is so obsessive about his lawn that if my husband mows our lawn, than you can rest assured that the following day our neighbor will mow his, regardless of how tall his grass is. Anyway, Sunday we got home after Church and saw that our neighbor was mowing the lawn and had blown the leaves in our front lawn into a nice pile. He doesn’t have trees in the front, so all the leaves were coming from our trees. Since this was a pretty obvious hint, and since most of the work had been done already and all that was left to do was bag the leaves, I tried to convince DH to do it together. But he wouldn’t budge so I gave up – I wasn’t going to do it on my own. A couple hours later, said neighbor rang at the door: he said he had filled a couple bags with our leaves since he was already working in the garden and it didn’t take him long.
Now, seriously, this was embarassing. My husband even told him that he had been too busy to take care of it because he was leaving this week – but in fact he’s home all week! πŸ™‚
But thinking back at it, this guy is really a bit weird for doing that! What do you think?
I have to add that their house is for sale so he obviously wants to make a good impression, but hey, it’s autumn, and leaves do fall. We already have a lot that have fallen since.
Anyway, that’s our story! πŸ™‚

Last $2 Tuesday

I got the newsletter from the Digichick saying today’s is the last $2 Tuesday… so take advantage of it, because you don’t see often such a great deal! Look what Mari has for sale today:

I love the patterns of this kit! I wanted to use it to scrap this funny picture of DH so I did some easy recoloring:

Shopping

I must say I am not a big fan of shopping. But when my mom comes to visit and we do go shopping, it’s always a fun time! And look at the new kit that Rachel of Captivated Visions has out (she’s a guest this month at ScrapMatters)! It makes me want to go shopping! πŸ˜€

The colors are so yummy!! As soon as I saw the kit I knew I wanted to use it, so I spent half an hour digging in my computer for some shopping pictures. πŸ˜‰ I knew I had to have some since I’m so behing in scrapping my mom’s visit… and I did, from last year!

I did this for today’s Saturday Special challenge. The queen of shadows, Carly (snaggle7575) has revealed her secrets on shadowing, and I tried to follow her tips. What do you think of my shadows here? Do they look weird?
