Just an Ordinary Week..

Happy Friday! This day couldn’t have arrived sooner for me – I was looking forward to making good progress at work this week, but then I kept getting requests from different people to work on other minor stuff, and ended up not having time to work on what I wanted to. I hate when that happens!! Note to self: never fool yourself into thinking that things will slow down.. they never do! 🙁
But there is one good thing that came out of this busy week – I scrapped! 😉 Here’s what I used:

It’s a gorgeous new kit by Kaye Winiecki – oh how I love everything that she designs! And even though I’m a fast scrapper, this page came together really fast – it took me less than 20 minutes! Yes, yet another reason why I love digi scrapbooking so much. 🙂

The kit is 20% off through the weekend, so go grab it! 🙂

February BYOC at The Lilypad!

January has certainly flown by… but there is one good thing about it: it’s BYOC time at The Lilypad! 🙂

I have made two pages so far, but more will be coming.. This BYOC is irresistible!

My second page is quite different from the first… but equally fun to make! 🙂

I may or may not have planned this dinner after seeing the gorgeous BYOC… 😉

Happy Birthday The Lilypad!

It’s The Lilypad’s 6th birthday, and celebrations are in full swing!

There’s a 30% store wide sale, and games galore in the forum, including my personal favorite – kiss the frog! 🙂

And to top if off, Sahlin Studio has a fabulous birthday collection new in the store today!

I used it to make a page for my 2012 Project Life album (one of the many weeks I haven’t quite gotten to yet.. ;)), for the week of my husband’s birthday back in November.

I made backgrounds from the gorgeous papers, and used the vintage cutouts and cards, borders and snipettes to embellish my page. All that was left to do was journal, and add some sewing. 🙂 Here are some details. 🙂

There’s a story behind the “cake #3” (and “cake #4” in another card below): this year DH actually got 4 birthday cakes with candles! Two were at a restaurant, one with friends, and the last at home. 🙂

I used the photo collages by Designs by Lili to fit all my restaurant photos in this pocket, an I added some journaling on a strip cut out of the papers.

Those vintage cards are so much fun! And this blue “happy birthday to you” is my favorite paper in the set, tied with the one I used in the title card. 🙂

This doggie was so cute, I thought it deserved its own pocket. 🙂 I used my Silhouette to cut it out, as well as the Happy Birthday sign below. I sized the sign to be slightly bigger than the pocket because I wanted it to stand out, and I attached it with glue dots to the front of the page protector.

Yup, cake #4. 🙂

This one shown here looks like a paper, but it isn’t – I just repeated a few times one of the borders, slightly shifted, and printed them out, because I loved the look! The presents were also cut out with the Silhouette.

Well, I hope you will take part in the celebrations at The Lilypad over the weekend!

Recent Photo Challenge

My challenge for the January Month of Challenges at The Lilypad is posted! I hope you will play along! The challenge is to scrap a recent photo (taken in the last 7 days). I used a variety of products that are on sale 50% off today for my page. 🙂

Have a nice day!

January BYOC at The Lilypad!

I am so excited for all the inspiration at The Lilypad! Not only is the January BYOC in the store, but January is the Month of Challenges: each day a new challenge is posted! I’m loving it and I’m super inspired! And this isn’t only a great motivation to start off the year well and get those memories scrapped – if you complete all 31 challenges by Feb 2nd, you could win a permanent Polly spot (best team ever!!)! Check it out:

I’ll be hosting the challenge for Jan. 16th, but I’m playing along in the challenges too – I want to see how many I can get done! 🙂

After several weeks of little to no scrapping, with the end of the semester and all the holiday activities, I am finally back on schedule and scrapping – and I love it! Here’s what I’ve done with the January BYOC so far.

First off, I was inspired by Valorie Wibbens’ new frames to make a compilation of all my favorite TLP pages from 2012:

ETA: this page was picked as a weekly highlight at the Club CK blog! 🙂
Fun!! This next page is for the Jan. 1st challenge – Clean and Simple – which is right up my alley.

And since I was loving the frames so much, I made another page with them. 🙂

Vacation Highlights

Not my usual style, but I love how it turned out! 🙂

December Daily – Days 8-14

I am not on holiday break yet (yuck!), but I conceded myself some time over the weekend to catch up on my December Daily album. 🙂

DD 2012 - Days 8-11

Not much happened these days that was Christmas-related, so I only had elf pictures for my album. 🙂 I also included a funny joke DH forwarded to me on Facebook. The next spread took me a little more time to put together, and I love how it turned out!

DD 2012 - Days 12-14

The green paper is from Basic Grey Fact & Fiction.

DD 2012 - Days 12-14

I stamped a pretty pine stamp by Martha Stewart on the little tag with green ink – so pretty! The date stamp is done with my latest favorite number stamp purchase. The Ho Ho Ho is from a set by Valorie Wibbens, and the glittered stars card is by Paislee Press.

DD 2012 - Days 12-14

I had lots of fun stamping and embossing here! The number stamps (from Kelly Purkey’s December Daily kit) were embossed with gold glitter zing on vellum. The other stamp (from Studio Calico) is also embossed in gold glitter zing, and then I sprayed Estate Green Mister Huey on top – it really makes the gold shine even more! The little stars are punched out from a foil wrapping using this awesome punch – another of my recent purchases, and you’ll be seeing more of it soon. 🙂

I finally bought myself a tiny attacher by Tim Holtz, and I’ve already put it to use to hold down those sequins. I love it!! Here are a few other things I used to make this page.

That’s all I have for now! I’m a little over a week behind, but it’ll be easy to catch up – as soon as I have some free time!

December Daily 2012 – It Has Begun!

I am so excited to be working on one of my favorite projects: December Daily. Put together two things I love – Christmas and crafting – and I’m in heaven! Dec. Daily is a concept started by Ali Edwards to document the Christmas season day per day. I completed a mini album both in 2010 and 2011, and I’m at it again this year. 🙂

For my first page of the 2012 December Daily, I used a paper by Sahlin Studio, in the gorgeous December BYOC at The Lilypad (25% off through the weekend!):

This is the first page you see when you open my album:

DD 2012 - title

The picture at the bottom was taken on Dec. 1st, and it’s the only snow we’ve seen so far, but I hope we’ll have a white Christmas this year, so I thought it was perfect to put it at the front of my album. 🙂

Come back tomorrow to see the rest of my Day 1! I’m so excited about how it turned out!

Document Your December and Black Friday at The Lilypad

Yesterday was Black Friday in the U.S., the day for crazy sales and holiday shopping. Last year (for the first time) we braved the crowds and went shopping at ~6am, but this year I decided not to. We’re too busy, and didn’t really have much to buy. Instead, I did some very rewarding online shopping, followed by a quick dash to the mall at 10 AM – we visited 3 stores and didn’t have to fight the crowds. 😉 But hands down, online shopping rocks. And the sale that is going on at The Lilypad on all Christmas and winter products is perfect to gear up for December Daily!

I successfully completed a December Daily album in the past two years, so I know what works and what doesn’t work for me. This year I decided to combine the December Daily album with Project Life (I wouldn’t have enough material and motivation to keep up with two albums at the same time!), so I’ll be using the Project Life concept (document the little things, use photo pocket pages) but in a mini album format. I am using an 8.5″x5.5″ binder by Martha Stewart from Staples. I chose this size because it’s perfect for hybrid, and I’m all for saving paper when I print. 🙂 In 2010 I made all my foundation pages of the album ahead of time, because I was traveling in December. In 2011 I didn’t, because I was home and wanted to have the freedom to choose the design based on the photos I had for each day. This year, I will also go with the freedom approach :), but since the holiday products that have already been put in the store are so tempting, I have done a few pockets already. 🙂 Here’s what I used.

Last year I started the tradition of our Elf on the Shelf, and I am excited to bring him out again this year. The tree went up yesterday, so I have a feeling he’ll make an apparition soon. 😉 Here are a few other goodies I’ve used so far.

It’s no mystery that I love deer and reindeer (and glitter too! LOL), so these cards by Paislee Press had to go straight in my album. 🙂 Here’s a peek at the pockets I’ve made so far.
