Kill My Studio Calico Kit: June – Galileo

I am starting this series on my blog to keep myself accountable. I love buying new scrapbooking products, but I don’t want them to pile up, I want to use them and finish them up!
At the end of May I subscribed to the scrapbooking kit at Studio Calico (with a $5 promotion). So my first kit to kill was Galileo (June 2015). My goal is to use up a kit before the next one arrives.

Notes: I loved pretty much everything in this kit. The stamp set is very versatile (I am using it a lot in my Project Life album), I have a weakness for puffy stickers and gold foil, and I love the cork map.

Status:ย killed*
I made 9 layouts with this kit (7 12″x12″, 2 9″x12″), for a total of $5, or $0.55/page. I supplemented it with some paper and stamps and a couple embellishments from my stash.

Here’s the bits and pieces I have left.
Leftovers:ย cork world map (I am hoarding it.. :)), part of the star foiled specialty paper and of the pink dots paper (my favorite this month!), some stickers and an acrylic word.
So the first month was definitely a success!
*what I mean with “killed” is that I don’t have any whole pieces of patterned paper left or enough embellishments to make a page.

Kill my Studio Calico kit is a monthly series I started on my blog to hold myself accountable and use up my kits. My goal is to use up a kit before the next one arrives.

Inked | Color

You guys.. I am still pinching myself that I was asked to contribute to Inked | Color, an online class taught by Maggie Massey at Studio Calico!
I have a big, big love for stamps and bright colors, so this class couldn’t have been a better fit for me! There’s still time to sign up, and classes start on May 12! Here are a couple sneaks of what I have been working on for class… ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am using this stamp that is one of 4 stamp sets released for this class.
Hope to see you in class!

Studio Calico Odyssey reveal

I am so thrilled to be contributing to the gallery at Studio Calico with the March card kit – Odyssey!

Unfortunately not all the items in the kit were available when they shipped it to me (… sigh… those gold labels didn’t make it to me.. and I didn’t receive the MME flair buttons either) so I can’t show you everything that’s in the kit… but I sure made the most of what I got. ๐Ÿ™‚ I also used the washi strips add on (you get 2 sheets with 6 different designs).

I made a *ton* of cards! 15 to be precise, and I am in no way done with this kit. I still have lots of paper left, and a cute wood veneer alligator (I’m hoarding that to be used on a scrapbook page, actually).

Stamps are my favorite thing, and the ones in this card kit were to much fun to use! In fact, only 2 of the 15 cards I made don’t have any stamping (shown above). I believe I’ve used every stamp in the set. ๐Ÿ™‚
ย
ย
I also used a couple of digital items (theย Anniversary scrapbook stampย and this awesome ampersandย background cut file by Paige Evansย – it comes in different sizes so you can use it on scrapbook pages, cards and in Project Life).
ย
ย
The plastic “hey” word that comes in the kit can be used as a stencil (I did that to cut out the blue patterned paper above) or as a mask as I did on these two cards. You could also use the plastic word directly on a card, but I didn’t because I know I’ll be using this mask over and over.
ย
I used ink pads, watercolors, embossing powders and mists on my cards. These stamps are so versatile!

Studio Calico Guest Contributor for March

I am so excited to be contributing to the Odyssey Card kit gallery at Studio Calico in March! I want to share here a sneak of all the cards I made with the kit. I was very productive, and put together 15 cards (yes, fifteen!). ๐Ÿ™‚

The animal stamps in the Odyssey card kit are just so cute and versatile! I had fun stamping them, embossing them and watercoloring them.
The kits go for sale at 12 PM EST on Friday, Feb. 27th, and 12 hours later for everyone else.

Stretch Your Card Kit!

After all the cardmaking with the Copper Mountain card kits, I was itching to create something else. ๐Ÿ™‚ So I made a 12×12 page using some paper scraps from the card kits and some digital files.

I love how this page turned out! Here are some details.

This is a digi printable.

I love this little stamps from the Copper Mountain card kit!

Layering with the pretty star button.

Misting in the background, and another digi printable (the speech bubble).

These gems are so pretty!

Copper Mountain – January kits at Studio Calico

I am the card kit guest designer for January 2014 at Studio Calico, and I went a bit overboard with cardmaking lately! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I made a total of nine cards!

These first few were done with the main card kit only, Copper Mountain card kit.ย {the link only works for subscribers from noon EST on Dec. 27, and for everyone from midnight}

The kit comes with a die to be used with a manual die cutter. Since I don’t own one, I thought of some other way to use the die, and ended up using it as a stencil for my stitching. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love this cute whale!

ย

The colors in this month’s kit are right up my alley!

The patterns in the paper pad are very pretty!

This ribbon in the kit is so much fun! It has thin metal wires inside, so you can shape it up as you wish!

I thought the stamps were so versatile!

I was inspired by these cute candy dots to go with an ombre theme for this card.

And now we get to the card add on kit, Spaulding Bowl.ย {the link only works for subscribers from noon EST on Dec. 27, and for everyone from midnight}

I went with an elegant design for this card.. I guess the color scheme was inspired by the Christmas festivities! ๐Ÿ™‚

I am in love with the skinny handwritten sentiments in the stamp set!!

As soon as I saw the washi and the gems in the add on kit I knew they’d be a perfect match! ๐Ÿ™‚

I also used some of the digital files along with my Silhouette.
When I saw the ocean theme for the stamp set I immediately thought I should use this pretty blue POW glitter paper I had in my stash. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yeah, I think this is my favorite card out of the nine I made!

I tried using the stamp to make a card with two whales, but it didn’t quite work out.. it turned out much better to use the digital shape and cut out the two whales! ๐Ÿ™‚

Confession: this was my first time ever using a rub on! ๐Ÿ˜‰ (the white anchor)

There is an adorable fox stamp in one of the Project Life add ons and I got to play with this cut file and some watercolors. ๐Ÿ™‚

And that’s my ninth card! I have by no means exhausted these two kit, just my time! I haven’t even played yet with two of the stamps – the clouds and “showered with love” sentiment in the main kit and the books stamps in the add on.

I hope you enjoyed these cards; I had lots of fun making them and I hope they show how versatile these kits are! ๐Ÿ™‚ In fact, I used the card kits to make a 12″x12″ LO last night – I will be sharing it here early next week. ๐Ÿ™‚
If you are considering signing up for a subscription, use this link and we’ll both get a $5 bonus towards add-on purchases. ๐Ÿ™‚

Copper Mountain Sneaks!

Happy Christmas Eve! I am quite thrilled that it’s snowing again, after the snow melted all away a couple of days ago. I am hoping we get a white Christmas!

In the meantime, I have some Instagram sneaks of the cards I made with the Studio Calico January kits. I’m very excited to be a card guest designer next month – what better way to start the new year?! ๐Ÿ™‚ First off, I want to show you some sneaks of the Copper Mountain card kit:

ย

I also got to create with the card add on, and I’ve got to tell you… those stamps are awesome!!

Apparently I cannot stop creating with these gorgeous kits, because I have a couple more cards to share in which I also used some of the digital elements to cut out shapes with my Silhouette. ๐Ÿ™‚

For this last card I combined the whale and fish with some blue POW paper from my stash.. it may very well be my favorite card of the bunch!

OK that’s it for now! I have made seven cards so far, and I may have a couple more in the works ;), so come back on the 27th to see the full reveal!
