Easter’s Coming!
Easter weekend is here and I’m sure you’ll all have many Easter pictures to scrap once it’s over. I recently scrapped a page about last year using Sahlin Studio’s gorgeous Easter/spring products:
It was seriously too funny.. the surprise outside the egg?!? π
SM rocks DC!
One of the best things about my trip to Washington, DC earlier this month is that I got to meet up with some ladies of the wonderful community at ScrapMatters! It was so exciting to meet the girls in person and I was overjoyed that they came over to see me! We had breakfast together and had a guy who was sitting nearby take a picture of us (well.. 3 pictures, since we had three cameras! ;)). He did a decent job! π So here’s me, Court, Erica (and lil’ Kaylee), Denise and Jan!
I will do another page with some pictures of the girls and journaling.
I love all the products I used in this page, but let me show you these new date elements by Erica because they absolutely rock!
I realized I haven’t shown you my hybrid project for the March newsletter yet (are you signed up??).. I’ve been such a bad blogger this month! I’ll post it soon. π
Happy Birthday Mom!
Today is my mom’s birthday and I sent her this card:
It’s not my usual card and I had so much fun putting it together! π
I started off printing out the embellishments on presentation paper (I had some room left over as I was working on another project): at this point, I had’t thought about what card I wanted to do so they just sat on my desk for a while. A few days later, when it was time to mail the card, I decided to design a card to print on a 5×7 glossy paper and add the embellishments on top of that, so I designed a funky card with my mom’s picture and drawings made with my tablet. Since I’m pretty sure my mom doesn’t want me to remind her she’s turning 62, I also added a suitcase+ticket for her upcoming trip to visit me, because I knew she’d appreciate the detail.
Of course, since things never go as planned, for some reason my printer didn’t do borderless so the card turned out smaller than it should have – thus the too big party hat and the white border of the card showing. π But I think it’s still OK, if you don’t know it (I hope).
I inked the edges of the elements with Tim Holtz’s orange marmelade distress ink (I also wanted to buy the broken china, but can you believe my AC Moore only carried the orange marmelade?!? I hope it’s a temporary thing and they’re just reorganizing things..). I attached them with foam dots. I was afraid they would get squished in the mail, but even though I haven’t asked my mom explicitly, she was enthusiastic about the card, so I suppose it arrived there in good shape.
I had a left over candle that didn’t fit on the front, so I put it on the inside of the card.
I am really happy about trying out something different with this card! I asked DH if he liked the card, and he said he did. I then asked him (yeah.. usual mistake) if it looked different from the cards I usually make and he said he didn’t see any difference.. :-/
I have been admiring all the art journal layouts in the galleries and I hope to have time to expore this technique more. While this card isn’t an art journal, it certainly was inspired by it!
P365 – Trying to Keep up!
I’m a bit behind on my P365 pages (no big news here ;)) but I realized I’m behind with blogging them too, so let me show you what I have so far! Weeks 3-6:
I really love this last page especially! I used one of the kits Tangie Baxter created during her March guest spot at ScrapMatters:
I also used it for this page about a painting I saw in Washington, DC.
I’m afraid that’s all for my P365 for now.. I have quite a few weeks to scrap, but I’ll catch up as usual. π The real problem is how to scrap all the pictures from Washington – that will take me forever!
So Excited!!
I am so excited that Tangie Baxter is guesting at ScrapMatters this month!!! π
And for her first week, she came out with a myriad of incredible products!! They are almost all grouped in this great bundle:
Here’s what I did with it:
Certainly not my usual style.. but I loved it! π
There’s another new product out today at SM that I really must show you:
Isn’t this adorable?? Here’s what I scrapped with it:
Happy Friday! π
Iβm Still Speechless!
When I saw the gorgeous, amazing, huge collab that Britt-ish Designs and Sahlin Studio put together, I was absolutely speechless! And Iβm still speechless, because there is so much gorgeousness in this collab, that I feel like I could scrap a whole album with it, and not be tired! π
Let me show you what Iβm talking about. First, thereβs this kit:
Which is completely stunning by itself. But itβs not all! There is a series of add-ons, for many different countries! Hereβs the bundle (they are available for sale separately, but the bundle is more convenient):
Thereβs also a mega bundle that saves you the most $$$:
So far I only played with the kit, but let me tell youβ¦ itβs fabulous! π Here’s my page:
A few weeks ago I fortuitously realized it was something like 980 days since our wedding day, so I told DH, we saved the date, and last week we celebrated our 1000th day since our wedding. π We like to celebrate fun things like that! π Plus, it’s really a special number, if you think about it! π
We had a lot of snow these past couple of days, and let me tell you, it’s really gorgeous!!
I Know..
I know, I’ve been unusually silent these past few days. Well, the fact is, I’ve been busy with a ton of administrative work (we had a CT call at ScrapMatters, plus I’ve been working on some banners), and haven’t had much time to create (well, I did work on a very cute project this weekend, but since it’s for March’s newletter, I can’t show it yet..).
But, I do have a few things to show you nonetheless. π Here’s the project I made for the February newsletter at ScrapMatters. If you aren’t signed up yet, you really should, because apart from my tutorials, which you understandably may not be interested in ;), there’s a lot of inspiring articles, and a free kit every month!
This project is for St. Patrick’s Day (as if you couldn’t tell.. ha!) and was made using the free kit that came with the newsletter.
Next, a couple of pages with Friday’s new releases at ScrapMatters. I absolutely LOVE anything that Jennifer Barrette designs.. and this gorgeous kit is no exception!
An adorable kit.. for adorable puppies!
Next, take a look at these stitches by Chelle’s Creations:
These have endless possibilities! The stitches and the holes come on different layers, so it’s really easy to shadow them properly! I love these stitches!!
That’s it for now, but I scrapped tonight, so I will have something to show you on Friday! π
Ready for Valentine’s Day?
I’m almost ready for Valentine’s Day. π I made a pretty box to hold my Valentine coupons, so I only need to write the coupons (will do that tonight while DH’s not home! π ) and I’ll be all set. π
Here’s some more shots:
It’s sooo pretty! Hope DH likes it! π I even rounded the corners of the coupons now (I bought a gorgeous corner rounder on my latest online shopping spree!!) but I don’t have pics of that.
Now, on a personal note: I bought a laptop on Sunday because I need it for work (so I can bring work home more easily too.. lucky me, huh.. :-P), but since I alread have my fancy Mac desktop at home for scrapping and everything else, I couldn’t afford getting a Mac laptop too. It also wouldn’t have made any sense, because all of the programs I run for work only work on Windows.. So, I bought a cheap but powerful Windows laptop… and I’m loving it! I didn’t expect to like it so much, after being a converted Mac girl.. but I do! I hope it doesn’t disappoint me! π
Hybrid Projects
I have a couple of hybrid projects from last month to share. I am so proud of how these turned out! π
The first two were for my Secret Santa gifts (ugh.. my first gift got lost in the mail.. so I had to make new gifts.. :-/). I made a photography frame since the recipient is a photographer:
and a personalized scratch pad holder:
I sent her the penguin card too:
Then, I made some gifts for a Secret Valentine! π (this time the gifts arrived safely the first time.. phew!)
I made a matching card + candy dispenser π
Lemme show you some details:
And then I made her a frame!
Here’s some details:
I loooove my glossy accents!
Glitter stickles are pretty neat too!
I inked the prima flower since the color was too bright and it turned out just perfect for this project!
I have rapidly become a fan of distressing ink. A fan?? Let’s admit it: I cannot live without it!
And that’s it for my Secret Santa and Valentine! π I do have some more hybrid goodness to show you, but I’ll leave that for a later post. In the meantime, if you aren’t signed up for the ScrapMatters newsletter, make sure you sign up, because I have a very neat project for the February newsletter, which is going out soon. π
