Trend Watch: Wood

There’s a great new Feature at The Lilypad – Trend Watch! This week’s theme is wood. There’s a challenge too if you want to play along for a prize! So I made a new page using some of the gorgeous September BYOC that I hadn’t had the time to play with yet (how did it happen that half of the month is gone already??).

Check out the discounted Trend Watch: Wood products, and play along in the challenge!

The weather has definitely cooled down around here. We had to turn on the heating a couple of days this past week.. I don’t mind it one bit. I am looking forward to my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season! 🙂

Foodie

I am so excited to share the latest collection at Digital Design Essentials!

This collection was literally made for me :), and it’s perfect to scrap all my food photos (and you know I have a ton of those!)! 🙂 I made this page with a recent baking experiment, and I also started using the brushes in my Project Life album – they are the perfect overlay for food photos!

Do you scrap food photos?

Saturday Releases

I had a scrap-fest last night and made three pages. 🙂 One is for the write.click.scrapbook October gallery so it will be two weeks before I can share it, but the other two are done with brand new products that are 20% off today. First off, the last installment in the Days of the Week collection by Mari Koegelenberg and Sugarplum Paperie.  And here’s my page:

Love our little corner of the world! Next up, an adorable fall kit by Jenn Barrette!
I am in love with these colors! Seriously, gorgeous kit! I used it to scrap a picture I took the other day of a funny squirrel in our garden. 🙂

This squirrel kept running around and acting funny, until he stopped in this position for a bit. Seriously cracked me up! 😉

Falling Into Friday

Finally Friday! I have a group meeting tomorrow morning at 8 AM with my classmates, but I am still very glad that this week is over. I cannot believe how fast fall is getting here! Today’s new kits at The Lilypad are perfect to document this season! First up, a new collection by Sahlin Studio:

I am so in love with that deep blue color, paired with yellow. And the wood elements in this paper are gorgeous!
Next, there is something very special.. an entire collection by template queen Amy Martin!

This page was so much fun to make! I hope your weekend will be more relaxing than mine, and with lots of scrappy time! 😉

September featured kit by Sahlin Studio

The September featured kit on Sahlin Studio’s blog is the gorgeous Apple Orchard! This means that the kit is 30% off this month, and there’s a chance to win a gift card if you make a project with it!

Here’s a card I made for my husband’s first day of school. 🙂

I am itching to get crafty but my schedule is quite crazy at the moment.. but I have plans for Sunday! 🙂

Hello September!

Have you checked out the September gallery at write.click.scrapbook? This month’s theme is “palette-able”: we had to come up with a palette for our pages. I was super intimidated at the assignment, but then I just started playing, and I ended up having lots of fun! And I love how my page turned out! 🙂

I decided to get the palette from my photo – green + orange, then I broke out the watercolors (these and these) and added pink and blue and silver to the mix. Here are some details:

I had so much fun coloring the Heidi Swapp alphas with watercolors!

Do you usually think of the palette for your page ahead of time, or do you just go with the flow? What are your favorite colors to scrap with? I love bright colors, and I think all my pages have some pops of color in them, I cannot help myself from adding color! 🙂

Hello Friday

It’s Friday, the last Friday in August! Eeek! I see Halloween goodies in the stores, and I’d better get working on the calendars I give to family as a Christmas gift soon! But today, I want to share this gorgeous new collection by creashens. I had lots of fun using it for this page!

Believe

Yay, the end of the week is near! I have a business trip looming though so I won’t get to enjoy the weekend.. Anyway, I do have some good news – it’s Froggy Friday at The Lilypad, and I scrapped!! 🙂 I used this gorgeous collab by Paislee Press and Valorie Wibbens:

and awesome templates by Amy Martin. This page was so much fun to make! 🙂

Summer Favorites

I’m up on the write.click.scrapbook blog today with a post on capturing your favorite summer moments. Check it out!

Somehow, each year the summer months fly by at an incredible speed for me. This year was no exception; in fact – if possible – summer went by even faster than usual! I always have so many plans for fun things to do, but then our busy lives take over and many of these things never happen. The end of summer always feels bittersweet to me.

Reality check

Sometimes – especially now as the summer days on the calendar dwindle down to a few – I find myself regretting that we have done so little this summer. But in reality, we haven’t done little at all – it just feels that way because there was so much more I wanted to do. I need to remind myself that there have been many happy moments and each one of them was special. One way I like to keep track of the summer occurrences and give them the relevance they deserve is by making summary pages.

Summer Recap

On my summer recap pages, I like to select a few photographs that I love and include some journaling to capture those highlights.

For this layout, I used the digital kit Summer Fun by Mari Koegelenberg and Heather Roselli, and FG Jeana font for my journaling, which reads: “Each year, I have high hopes for a relaxing summer – this never happens, but I can honestly say this year beats them all. This has been the busiest summer of my life, by far. Yet, I am caught up in all these tight work deadlines, I want to make sure I savor the little things that are so special. So much to be grateful for.”

It makes me so happy to see all these moments together. I like to do these summary pages throughout the summer, and even more so towards the end of the summer, to capture those fleeting moments. What are your tricks to capture your summer memories?

Did you do a summer bucket list? I didn’t, but I do have a couple of things I am planning to do before the summer is over. 🙂
