Celebrate 2015

With less than 2 weeks left in the year, it’s a good time to look back and reflect on all the things that have passed this year. I made this year in review page using the new Mixed Media Monthly collection from The Lilypad, and I love how it turned out!

The template I used is in the collection too. It has 12 slots so you can choose a picture per month; I switched it up a bit and only included photos from some months (numbered) because I also wanted to include some of the pretty patterned papers from the kit.

December Daily 2015: Day 12 & 13

With this spread I am officially half way through my album!
This post contains some affiliate links. If you click on any of these affiliate links and make a purchase, then I happily receive a small commission. Thank you for your support! I purchased all the products you see used, and am happy to share what I made with them here.

I combined days 12 and 13 in this spread.

That chipboard square was left over from my Pop Art Studio Calico embellishment kit, and I used it to spell out the date (12). The journaling card is from an older Story Kit by Ali Edwards (Go) – I used the front side in yesterday’s page. (for some reason I cannot resist the impulse to use both sides of a journaling card! :)) The gold foil polka dot paper also comes from my leftovers from a Pop Art add on.
The acrylic “magic” and the rubber “joy” embellishments are from Pinkfresh Studio.
Today’s story is another chapter in our Elf and Reindeer saga.

I have a small 3″x4″ journaling card as an insert – it is a couple years old, I don’t remember exactly but I think it was from a grab bag from Studio Calico. I used a little stamp to mark how far along we are in the countdown, and used the back for my Dec. 13th story. The alpha stamp is from Kelly Purkey, and the choir icon stamp is from Studio Calico.
Today’s story: my husband sings in a choir, and every Christmas season there are 2 of 3 Christmas concerts of his.

I used a Studio Calico die to make an attacher that I attached with the tiny attacher to include the concert program in the album (whew.. say that 3 times fast!! :)). The “have yourself…” piece is a combination of designs by Ali Edwards that I printed out.

December Daily 2015: Day 11

Only 9 days left to Christmas.. Today I am sharing my spread for Day 11.

Today’s story: even though it’s not a December story per se, being chosen for the 2016 Studio Calico Creative Team is the best Christmas present I could wish for, so into my album it went. 🙂

I included an insert between the spread, and went with a non-traditional color scheme.

I didn’t embellish the left side – the lettered paper from Jasmine Jones’s mini kit is gorgeous!

I backed the insert with a paper scrap left over from my Pop Art SC scrapbook kit – it’s a specialty paper with scratch off dots. I scratched off one that had the perfect sentiment for this day.
On the right hand side, the first card and the chipboard phrase are from an old Story Kit from Ali Edwards – Go. I added my journaling on the label after taking these pictures.
On the second card, I had fun with a lovely stamp set from Studio Calico.
In the bottom pocket, I added a Christmas card I got in my Studio Calico box a couple of years ago –  I really like the design and I don’t mind that it’s old, I thought it was perfect for today’s story.

December Daily 2015: Days 9 & 10

Hello! I have a new spread from my December Daily album to share today, and this one is all about Christmas trees.

I combined days 9 and 10 in this spread.

On the last card I used a silkscreen and acrylic paint (all from Studio Calico). I love the look of silkscreens!
Today’s story is of my mom’s Christmas decorations.

Today’s story is of our Christmas tree. It is so pretty! I added one of the thick transparency inserts from the December Daily kit in front of it.

Photos of my tree are always in a weird format, so I used a wide masking tape (from the Park. Ave Studio Calico Project Life kit from Dec. 2014) to bring the thickness up to 6″.

December Daily 2015: Day 8

Hello and happy Monday! How is your December Daily album coming along? I am in love with how mine is turning out. I’m at the half way mark, working on Day 12. Here’s Day 8.

This day has a 2-page spread and an insert.

Today’s story is all about our Elf and our Reindeer. They bring so much joy to our December. 🙂

The insert is a back to back copy of the certificates of when we got them.

I used some digital brushes by Ali Edwards on my photos.

Citrus Twist Mini Album

My 4th project as Guest Designer at Citrus Twist this month is a 4″x4″ mini album. It’s such a fun size to work with, and a great way to use up paper scraps!

This fall I had a series of 3 trips back to back and I want to document them in this album. The first one was a day spent in New York.
As a common theme throughout the album, I added some stamping in aqua.
I also used the lovely puffy alpha stickers to spell out the names of the places we went to.
I love this store!

The 2″x2″ die cuts included in the kit are perfect for these small pockets.

I added some journaling typed on my typewriter.

I added the stickers on top of the page protector.

I wanted to include a couple of 4″x3″ photos, so I sewed a pocket with sequins and the wood veneer crosses from the kit to use up the remainder of the page protector.

And there you have it! I made 9 pages in the album so far, and the rest will be to document the other trips.

December Daily 2015: Day 7

I need to apologize for the poor quality of photos of the next few days of my December Daily album – we’ve had a very gray and dark weekend and these are the best shots I could get.

I used the 2″ slots in the page protector to feature some photos of my Christmas tree.

I bought some green metallic and red metallic embossing powders, which I used here along with gold. I love them – the green especially!

Today’s story is about my favorite ornaments. On that top journaling card I stamped a tree using a set from Studio Calico.

Citrus Twist Sketch Challenge

The third project I made as Citrus Twist Guest Designer this month is for the sketch challenge they run on their blog – come play along!

I followed the sketch rather closely.  I used two 3″x4″ photos that had bold colors and patterns, so I decided to pair them with even bolder papers. I cut into one of the papers following the geometric design and used it to mat my photos-I love how these colors and patterns matched one of the shirts I was wearing.  To switch up my title, I cut into the paper with the sketched letters. I added some stickers and wood veneers to embellish the page. This is a fairly busy page, but I feel like the triangles I used for the corners and the additional framing of my photos pull everything together.
Have a nice Sunday!

December Daily 2015: Day 6

For Dec. 6, I did another 2-page spread with some pastel colors.

Today’s story: my husband sang in a Christmas concert. It was lovely!

On the photo, I used some digital brushes by Ali Edwards.

On the right hand side I brush lettered some of the words from my favorite piece in Handel’s Messiah.

Studio Calico 2016 Creative Team

I have the BEST news to share today – I am one of the 2016 Creative Team at Studio Calico!! I am so happy to be creating with their awesome kits and stamps (oh how I love stamps).

You will be seeing my projects here on my blog, in the Studio Calico gallery, on Instagram, on the Studio Calico blog and on Pinterest. I will be making cards, and Project Life spreads with the Documenter kit.
ETA: I will be making cards and Project Life spreads, not every month but every few months. So excited to get started!!
There have been several changes in the past year at Studio Calico, and a new rewards program was announced this week that benefits long-term subscribers. Having been a subscriber of their Project Life/Documenter kit since the very first one offered in January 2013, I have to say I really love their products and love receiving my box each month – this has never changed. I hope I can continue to contribute to the fabulous inspiring and encouraging community there and share my excitement for the upcoming products!
